Talking Went To See a Man about a Dog (Road Trip}

On another Forum Guy told of a Guy that had a Good Hunting Dog For Sale.He gave me the Details about the Dog,where it was,Price the Guy was asking and the Guys Phone Number.

Told my wife about it this morning,that it was a very good price but a long drive up there.She said ok call the Guy.So 9AM called him.Well to start he said he wanted double Price I was told but still good Price.Told him we was a good 4 hours from him we would see him later.Got directions and all.

So we take off,me Navigating,its pouring rain.Oh this is already good.Got turned around,stopped asked directions found we had to go back where I told her to turn.Then we get on Interstate,people running off the road right and left because of the rain and they didn't know how to slow down.Get to the town the Dog is.The Guy didn't give the best of directions but we found the place.4 Hours on the dot,he was not there,we call he don't answer.Decide the Heck with it go back home.

Got to thinking we are close to German Wine Country should be able to fined some Good Food.So we start cutting across country.Fine nice scenery,Winerys,Vineyards but just not anything like where we wanted to eat.

We thought ok we keep going this direction we should hit this Highway.We drive and drive,Gas Gage keeps going down,keep thinking we should run into a town with Gas Station.Nothing but spots in the road.Finally we find the Highway we're looking for,stopped got Gas asked if there was a place to eat? Well they had a Bar that had pretty good food.Stopped and ate.

10 Hour Road Trip home safe but no Dog.Oh well my wife says The Lord figures we didn't need this one.

Good for you guys! You didn't let someones poor inteons bother you. But you took a long trip and made the most of it. Saw some new country ate out,went to a bar on Sunday! and just had a good time together. I think people sometimes get to caught up in "how much is this going to cost us" and don't get out and just have a good time. Even with high gas prices ,theres no excuse for not taking time to jsut go with the flow once in a while.

Geeze big rock if you were lookin' for a good huntin dog I could of tried to get my coonhound to you. Would of flown her to you even or we coulda met in the middle somewheres. Now that was a good hunting dog, she could find a 3 day trail, and nothing could stop her. She lived for the hunt. Even the shelter she was taken to advertised her as a hunting dog and you KNOW the humane socioty don't normally advocate that kind of thing, they want thier critters as indoor dogs LOL but it was plain to see, even to them she would not be happy less she was hunting!

Yea we was headed for Troy,got towards Jefferson City made wrong turn got to Osage City.Got back on track.Made it to Troy.Thought we would go back through Hermann get some German Food.

Well it was about dark when we got there couldn't find what we wanted,plus weather wasn't best for looking around.Did like the Bridge.We thought 50 HWY was just South of there,well didn't know if we would ever get to it but did.

Stopped in Linn to eat I got Catfish my wife got a Burger.

Thinking of one day going back to Hermann but wondering if it might be over priced?

the food in hermann is so so. actually it's hard to find authentic german food. some of those places want to pass off brats as food. there are many small towns around the area that were settled by germans where you can still get real german food at a decent price often in little roadside cafes.

I don't care much for German food myself, so can't help you there, but there used to be a good Mexican place in the middle of town. We live back up 94 a bit so only head that way a few times a year.
