It's almost turkey time!

I bought my almost 22# turkey a week ago from Monday. Kept it in the freezer until Wednesday and then had it defrosting in the fridge.
This morning I made up a brine solution of water, 1 cup of kosher salt and 1/2 cup of sugar for each gallon of water. Cleaned out our cooler with a dab of bleach and plenty of fresh water, and put in 4 gallons of water, 4 cups of kosher salt and 2 cups of sugar.
Got the turkey out of the fridge and unpackaged it - and it's now happily "relaxing" in the brine. Ice was added to keep it cold.
Tomorrow morning, it will be taken out of the brine, patted dry, and stuffed and roasted. Yummmmmmmm!
Roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries, pumpkin pie!!

My sisters and spouses and children are coming, so we expect to have probably 9 adults, 1 teen, and 2 children. We will sit around all day, eating, talking, and playing cards.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

When it's done enough to tear off a hind leg I'm ready to atack the booger. After I've got it down to the bone, I'm ready to start on the goodies. Oyster dressing, Sweet tater pie, Hot biscuits. Cherry pie, Mashed taters. Peach pie, Gooie gravy, Lemon pie, Tater salad, Chocolate pie, Spice cake, Apple pie, And some Desert.

How long do I have to leave it in the turkuzzi before I can tear a leg off.

Happy Thanksgiving.
