My critters are getting thick coats!

I noticed today that my barn cats are putting extra weight on and their coats are really thick. We haven't been feeding them any more than normal, so my guess is that they're catching a ton of field mice. I haven't seen any mice, so that's good.

I then looked at my goats (Saanens, Snubians and a doofy Boer runt). Their coats are nice and thick, too. They're also a little more umm..portly than normal. The pasture's chewed down more than it was last year at this time.

Makes me wonder what winter's going to be like.

We have a Maine Coon and she's fatter and fluffier. All the robins left the 2nd week of August, along with all the red-winged blackbirds. Here's an article that was in our electric coop magazine that gives the winter forecast from 3 of Ky's folk forecasters:

According to the forecasts, Ky may have up to 11 rabbit tracking snows this winter.
