Just started mine about an hour ago; first fire this season. The North wind has been just HOWLING around here all day.

Sitting by mine as I write... it hasn't been ultra chilly, but the damp is in the air, so I've been burning wood sporadically for the past week.

It's toasty and comfortable in my house, and the fire is lovely company.

We have our wood fires going. I made dinner on the wood range, and I'm sitting in the den enjoying the flickering glow of the parlor stove in here. It's rainy, windy, and cold outside, but its toasty and cozy inside. My husband came home from work singing "Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful..."

A little over a week ago, we began using our wood stoves, since it was getting damp and colder at night. We actually have 3 of them. One is in our Shop, DH's custom one (he designed/built) is in our living room, and a small one in my office. That last one is only used when the temps are in low 30s or lower.

Just lit the wood stove for the first time this fall about an hour ago. It's been raining all day and only into the high 40s. Supposed to be down to the high 30s or low 40s tonight and might get up to 50 tomorrow. House will be chilly and damp feeling, so the wood stove is going.

Going to start using our wood stove any time now, it makes it so much easier to go out in the cold wind to feed the animals when you have that to sit by...

Well, welcome to the party...

I started using the wood stove here about 8 days ago, when the 1st heavy rains hit the coast. Tonight I have a small fire going to just take the chill out of the house, since it has damp and foggy outside today/ tonight.

Forgot to mention, DH's wood stove heats all our hot water, so when we start using it, saves on any propane we used in conjunction with passive solar for hot water.

Our outdoor woodburner was lit off on Oct. 15. It heats this old house quite well....water for the dishwasher, clothes washer and for bathing is now very hot. Each fall we're always anxious each to see reduction in electric usage (and cost!) due to turning off electric to the water heater. Would like to have a wood cookstove too...someday?

Lit ours today too. I was actually sitting in the living room bundled in blabkets and hubby walked in and decided to clean out the chimney real quick. Gotta love him. Its toasty enough in here I opened a window.

I don't have a wood stove...just a fireplace. Will probably have to fire it up during the next couple of days, then it warms back up to low/mid 70s.

Hubby built a fire in the fireplace tonight. I lit it when I got chilly tonight. We love having a fire in the fireplace.

Wish I had a woodstove.

But I had a neighbor come and light my pilot light on my furnace this evening. I was hoping to hold out at least for the rest of this month. But it's in the 30's at night and that cold when I have to get out from under the covers to make a bathroom run. lol
