What would I do...
"What would I do if I were not afraid?" -Martha E. Manglesdort
A simple question, yet it can reach deep inside of us. If you didn't have that fear (you know what it is...) what would you do?

If I had no fear I would attempt to teach people that it is noble to be independent and not rely on Government help. I would teach independence and good work ethics. I would teach folks that they should be good stewards of money that is given to them.

Reason: errors due to watching tv as I typed.

I would probably do a lot of really stupid stuff. Fear has kept me out of a lot of trouble. I understand your point however, and it's a very interesting question. What would I have accomplished if I hadn't "thought better of it"?

Aw, that's easier than it looks! Didn't think I could do it until I had to with our 16 ft. trailer.
I would climb up on the roof of my house every year and put up tons of Christmas lights!
I would go on walks in the woods with my hubby during the summer (afraid of snakes...venomous ones).
I would clean out my garden shed while the weather is warm (afraid of wasps, mice and spiders).

Pattycake, I love your answer!
My life has changed dramatically in the last year and fear is something I live with on a daily basis now. It is a horrible thing to be afraid to do daily tasks because, what if I have a seizure and I get hurt.
On the other hand, about 15 years ago I decided to live life to the fullest, life was changing but in much different ways. Life was changing around me and I was setting back and watching it. Then I decided to take the bull by the horns. I finished college, kicked my cheating husband out, learned how to date again after 17 years of marriage, and began having a lot of fun. My kids didn't know what to think of their "new mom". It was fun...and it led to my second marriage to Jeff. He is my rock and keeps me strong to get me through this illness. Without him I would be in fear for my life.............

Move our family to another state, maybe somewhere like southern Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, maybe even one of the Dakotas.

I wouldn't rely on God as I should. The fear of God is a mighty thing.

I pity the fool who'd stand by any trailer I'm driving.

I'd have been up early this morning and out to my place in the country clearing it out preparing to have it demolished instead of waiting for my son to be able to meet me there. i just can't .i am deathly afraid of mice which i am sure in my mind are in there... and dont anybody stand behind me either when i am backing up. i backed into the retaining wall a few days ago . ~Georgia.

OH MY GOSH. I needed that this morning. I've been angry and afraid since about 3:00 AM.
Taking a deep breath and rethinking.
Thank you.

Borrow money to fix the house up, and get some dentures.
In the back of my mind I think re-paying on a loan wouldnt be so hard.
Thats what Ive always thought. Yet any loan Ive gotten has taken longer to pay back than it would have been to just do without, trim my budget, & save for whatever it is that I wanted.
Im mostly debt free, & the fear to me is the thought of not being so.
So now Im just trying to do without, excesses. I still have all the basic things I need & want to keep me busy & happy, reasonably so.
Im trimming my budget wherever I can & saving.
Im looking at this as an adventure, & seeing how much fun I can have with it.

Great question Melissa. Can be answered in many ways. Fear keeps me from pursuing jobs that don't pay $$$ or have health benefits. There are 3 places within walking distance where I believe I would be much happier than where I am now. Health coverage and having money when I'm 84 prevents me from taking that leap. I'd like to work these jobs part-time (while keeping the full-time job), but my property and house take up a lot of my time. I also value time with my husband. He used to travel much more and if he still did, I'd probably try the part-time bit.
I think I'd also try dancing as well. I was born with common sense and no rhythm. : )
I also believe that if more people let go of their fears, you'd hear less excuses! That would be nice!

Well, Move to the 10 acres in Missouri, have a basement house built, Plant as many apple trees and whatever else we can grow for a small orchard, build a quilting studio with attached beading studio, a welding shop for dh, Start as many small businesses as we could so to speak, write a few books.

The easy answer to this is that I want to fly in a hot air balloon. I don't live in an area where they are common and I don't travel much. I don't know that I am really afraid, but I guess if I wasn't I would try harder to make it happen.
The hard answers to this question are harder to articulate...
