Tired of TV - Gays, Lesbians, & Trans.

I think I'm just fed up and wondering if anyone else is feeling it? Seems like every show on TV now has to have a gay, lesbian, or transvestite in it.
I'm just feel like it is being shoved down my throat. I just turn it off because I'm not going to watch it.

I just don't believe in these lifestyles-plain and simple. If you want to do it then that's your business, but why does it have to be on every show???

Less than 10% of the population is gay- Why must 90% of TV shows have gays in them????

Just turning it off, because I don't want to see it.

Anyone else feeling this way?

No, it doesn't bother me at all.

I don't know which shows you're referring to, but the ones I know having gay couples are depicting an large/extended family. Every family I know has a gay/lesbian somewhere in the family so I think it's pretty normal.

No, it doesn't bother me one little bit!

As I explained to my DS many years ago, God made humans in many varieties, just as He made flowers!

I actually do not watch a show to see if the program has any of the above listed lifestyles exhibited. I watch a show if it makes me laugh, makes me cry, teaches me something. It is television for goodness sake and every single show I watch has non gay, non lesbian and or non cross dressers on it. So what is the problem? Earth has people, people come in many varieties. Television has people in many varieties. We get to choose (cause we live in a free society) whether to watch or not. How cool is that!

You could get netflix and watch some of the shows from the past before this was the trend. It doesn't seem to bother Hubby and insinuated stuff I can ignore. But full-on kissing, etc homosexual OR heterosexual I don't like. I don't like the language in a lot of it either. But less TV is better for me anyway.

Nope, doesn't bother me at all to watch a TV show with gay characters. It's homophobes that offend me.

Although I don't find gays offensive, I think that most of what Hollywood comes out with these days is offensive. There seems to be an effort to shock people rather than to just produce good entertainment. As time goes on, they just keep pushing more and more ideas that do offend a lot of people, and the language, violence, etc. is very bad. This is why I never go to the movies, don't own a TV, and don't listen to current music. It's much more pleasant reading books online and listening to oldies music on the radio. Why spend time and money on having something in your house that offends you?

I've never really noticed it - but then again, gay people do not bother me. They are just normal people

What does bother me is all the darn "talent" shows!! I do not care if you can sing, dance, juggle, whatever!!!! To many stupid talent shows!!!

I don't have a problem with gay people, but I do have a problem with what passes for entertainment on television in general.

Fortunately I found the solution for that problem some years ago.

I stopped watching it.

We quit watching those too. If they are overtly gay then that is the end of the show.
Bt then any unclad, violent or other wise immoral action on tv. is turned off in this house.
They can be what ever they want in real life, but don't bring it in my house.

It bugs me too, Elie Mae. It's liberal media's way of trying to get us to think that this is normal and acceptable. The more you see it the more normal it will appear. It's seems to be working for them as I can see from the replies here.

I see a lot more rampant sexuality on television as well. Threesomes, extramarital affairs, teen sex and more. Of course as mentioned above there is the language and violence too. The older I get the more old fashioned I get. Though these things don't offend me it doesn't mean it's what I want to be bombarded with either. As a consenting adult I know where to go find these things should I care to see them. Plus, for me it's kind of hard with kidlets in the house. Sometimes a shocking preview or racy secene (during daylight hours) will flash by before I can switch the channel. I pretty much stick with netflix and PBS if the kids are up because of that.

When I was a teen there was a lot less of this stuff on the air. The rate at which we are being exposed to shock factor and raunchy stuff is really speeding up. I prefer old sitcoms anyway. A bit slow moving but much more wholesome. I'm no prude, but like I said I know where to look...don't need it shoved down my throat. Heck, even some commercials and cartoons have racy themes these days.

It bothers me. We own a TV but do not have it hooked up to antenna, or cable.
We don't need these kind of garbage shows influencing our childern and poisoning their minds. (and unfortunately, there is homosexuality in our extended family, too)
It has become way too fashionable these days, and I fear it will just get worse. When will parents wake up and realize the damage they've allowed that programming to do.

Why does seeing people with different sexual preferences on television bother you?

What gets me is all the dead bodies. We flipped on one of those CSI shows last night, and I was shocked at what they were showing. I know it's what they DO in that show, but I found it a bit much. Simple solution though, I just turned the TV off.

I have decided not to watch shows that bother me like that. It is a choice that we have that we are free to make. What bothers me is the amount of sleaze & sex in not only the shows but the commercials as well. About every 2-3 commercials there is one with half-naked women. I see a lot more of that than gays.

Well said. I do not appreciate having others agendas forced on me, so we watch Netflix instead or nothing at all. From what I've seen the new shows aren't even that funny, just stupid.

Some of us still know right from wrong.

We watch very little television because much of what is on is not appropriate for small children. I don't want my children listening to jokes about threesomes, oral and anal sex, seeing bloody infant corpses pulled from dumpsters, etc etc etc. Much of it is garbage and not appropriate for children to be exposed to. As adults, I filter what I watch. I dont' need to see fiction about dead infants or gang rapes. If I want that, I watch the news.

Do you really believe that watching a gay character on TV will make a child homosexual? Gay is fashionable? Seriously? I am appalled and very very sad.

Yes, it is fashionable. As a former bartender I saw lots of girls "try on" gay behavior in public in order to get mens attention. In some circles it's easier to get that attention seeking handled with a partner in crime. IYKWIM

Eli May,
Sad but true this is why the once great United States of America is failing. Just look around at all the sadness and fatherless families. I'm afraid with the leaders of our country and the weak mined people wanting a free everything it is only going to get worse.
Glenn
