Anyone shop Victoria Secret?

My DDIL has a birthday coming up and I was thinking of getting her a gift certificate to Victoria Secret. Only thing is, she's a very, very large girl. I've never shopped VS before and was wondering how do their sizes run? Do you think maybe I should just stick with Lane Bryant instead?

What about getting her a prepaid Visa or Mastercard? That way she can shop at either.

VS has NOTHING (except scents) for larger people.

Just give her $$$ and she can shop in the stores she likes. BTW, Fashion Bug has nice clothing for the larger females and not as pricey as LB.

I second the Fashion Bug recommendation. Catherines has nice plus-size clothes. Also, there's a website, womanwithin.com that has reasonable plus size clothing that is actually PRETTY and made to fit a full figure. They have a great selection of sleepwear and intimates at decent prices--way better than Lane Bryant IMO. VS has nothing for plus sized people.

VS only has sizes for smaller people. I agree give a gift card/cash so she can shop where she wants.

I would agree, except for one thing. If this gal has some self-esteem issues due to her size, she might not be the type to buy herself some pretty lingerie. . .I know for years my birthday money would go to pay bills or buy groceries or something for the house because I wouldn't buy stuff for myself. Then my family members started giving me gift cards to certain favorite stores and I HAD to spend for myself. Now I look forward to it!

I am too big to buy clothing at VS but I love their lotions, body butter, body spray & bath wash. My daughter at Christmas usually buys me the gifts set & I love it!

Lane Bryant would be a better choice unless you simply choose to get her some fragrances instead. VS has some good house colognes.

If you were thinking Vickies because of their undergarments then I would recommend Fredricks of Hollywood. Their clothing my not be something I would want to wear but they actually have bras and such that are pretty and fit those of us with curves.

I am 47 yrs old and overweight---I am a size 20w. I cannot purchase anything to wear at Victoria's Secret. Fredrick's has larger sized lingerie but it still doesn't fit correctly, it's not plus size, but an XL or an XXL.

When I got heavy, I had a very hard time finding plus size clothing because so many manufacturers just 'add' fabric to a smaller size without actually sizing it. So it looks like a darn tent.

I went into Lane Bryant and it was really eye opening. The clothing fit my body and they had up-to-date fashions (although at my age I typically don't buy my clothing at LB, just my undergarments).

Lane Bryant has lingerie, panties, bras, etc...that are for plus size and their lingerie is sized just like buying a pair of pants so a size 14 is a size 14, a size 18/20 is a size 18/20whereas other manufacturers of underwear do the 5, 6, 7 ---what does that mean? If you wear a size 6 underwear it doesn't mean you also wear a size 7 pants.

My favorite places to purchase clothing besides the thrift store is Lane Bryant for the undergarments, and Lands End, Coldwater Creek (both online) and CJ Banks. I teach and my clothing needs to be very conservative, hence the Coldwater Creek, Lands End and CJ Banks.

I find VS to be extremely overpriced. extremely. a gift card anywhere else would go farther and be more appreciated I think.

Cash it is. I was just afraid she would think I didn't put enough thought into her gift. We're not on that good terms and I wanted her to know that I do love her and appreciate her.

How about a nice card with the cash or GC and a heartfelt note saying exactly that? Mention you know the two of you don't always see eye to eye, but you love and appreciate her.

Yep.

And VS has nothing if you wear a bra size larger than D most of the time too.

Fredericks of Hollywood has extra large sizes. Clothes made for cross dressers ,they even have shoes that men can wear.

VS is WAY overpriced! My MIL got me a git\st d\certificate from there and it was all I could do to actually spend it! It goes against every grain in my being. I know she meant well, but $48 for a bra I hate? NONONONONO
