I'm happy for you! I don't shop Aldi's because I have always been able to get better prices on name brand items when using coupons. With coupons getting scarce I might be tempted to try shopping there again.

I doubt I'll be doing much shopping there.

I LOVE our local Aldi...I frequently purchase fruit there along with quite a few other staple items....
last time i shopped there I picked up Strawberries ( product of the USA for sticklers) for a whopping $.88 a lb. Blueberries same USA product $1.49 for a dry pint...for those who were clueless as I was to what a dry pint is...seems to be around 11 ounces. Same packages sell around locally for $2.59 and up.
Canned tomatoes...14.5 oz cans here are $.55 each...as opposed to around $.75 in most stores. Pasta..I can get a 2 lb package for less than $1.50...Butter is generally less...Onions I can get there quite frequently for less also.

I love Aldi, had 1 right around the corner back in Va. Nearest one here is 20+ miles away, so I don't get to go as often as I'd like.

We picked up another dozen dry pints of blueberries last trip. $1/pt. Also stocked up on coffee ($5+ for over 2 lbs), cheeses ( a little less than $2/8 oz), and their fig newtons ($1/lb). A once a month trip seems to work for us.

I wish so very much that could get an Aldi here. There is one about an hour away but with gas so high I don't think I would be saving anything traveling there to shop.

I'm going to Aldi's tomorrow in the big town. Even with the price of gas it's cheaper to go there.

I recently picked up 16 pounds of strawberries for $1 a pound. Cut them all up and froze them. Half thawed strawberries make a great summer time treat.

We also buy all of our staples from Aldi. No, not the office supplies, milk, eggs, flour, sugar. It's the best price in town.

A local store called Market Street had them on sale for $1.99. The coupons were $2 so I got them free.

When we first moved back to IL Aldis seemed to be the cheapest in town and we would shop there on a regular basis. Then as time went on their prices were the same or even higher than the local stores. Now they are getting ready to open a super store just down the way. I guess it is time to rethink and check their prices to see if I can get better buys.

Aldi's is still the best price around here. Many things are half price of the regular stores, milk is a $1 or more a gallon cheaper. Sugar is still sold in 5# bags (seems a lot of people on here are buying 4# bags of sugar at their grocery stores). If they are a deal for you is dependent on what your chain stores charge....our non-Wal-Mart stores are high priced and Aldi's beat Wal-Mart in price and quality, here.

Aldi's is ten minutes away from our house. We try to stop in frequently. We have found that their branded items are really equal to the name brand products at other stores. I am a granol fan, so I buy theirs for under $2 a box and they have flavors that the regular grocery store doesn't have. We buy tubs of oatmeal and recently bought some of their coffee for hubby and daughter to try.

When they first moved into the area about 12-15 years ago, the quality wasn't there. Now, we buy about 1/4 of our groceries there and save a lot of money.

I guess you either love or hate Aldis -- I just don't get what the big deal about them is, I can get the same or better deals at my local Kroger which is much closer. But then I only buy stuff when its on sale to stock my pantry and then I buy a lot.

Growing up where Kroger was the preferred chain store...here the equivalent is called Dillons.
They have a shopping card..and all things are the same..even store brand items in the store are kroger brands...
All things are not equal...They frequently advertise BoGo sales where the on sale price is still well more than the standard price for the area...for instance boneless skinless chicken breast ( normal tyson quality ) 3.99 a lb and it's BoGo with a shoppers card. Sam's Club and Wallyworld both sell the same thing for < $2 a lb...so where's the real bargain there?

Kroger does not do that here. Albertsons does, which is why I refuse to set foot in an Albertsons again - if a store insults my intelligence I shop elsewhere.

That's why I ignore Albertsons BOGO sales.
