Thumbs up Louisiana waives hay limits to help TX ranchers

This is an example of states doing the right thing and making exceptions to their regulatory burdens.

Louisiana's agriculture and forestry commissioner says oversized loads of hay going to Texas don't have to meet the usual size restrictions or pay permit fees through Sept. 30.Mike Strain says that will let Louisiana farmers send more hay at the lowest possible cost to help drought-stricken cattle farmers in Texas.

That's wonderful! Oversize or out of state permits can be costly, especially if there isn't much profit margin anyway.

I always wondered what the point of a oversize permit was, it didnt make the load any smaller just leagal.

More states need to do this to help those ranchers down there.
Hope the federal goverment doesn't get wind of it though they will put a stop to it.

There are all kinds of oversize load fees; height, length, width, and weight. The fees should go into the hiway dept fund for repairs, etc.

Arnt we all in distress all the time? All the states should just forget the size limits and fees . They are a joke anyway.
