Thumbs up Got a great Coca Cola today

Don't know what happened but I opened up a 2 liter of cold coke today and it was like I was 9 years old. Lots of Fizz right up through the nose. Clears your throat and makes you want to chugg it. Haven't had that sensation since I was a kid. Hope the rest I bought are like this.

I still think the ones in the small glass bottles tasted best. My mother used to mix it with milk for an interesting drink when we were kids

The amount of fizz is directly related to the temperature and pressure used when injecting the CO2 into the liquid. Super-chilled water can hold more CO2. Sticking the bottle in the coldest part of the fridge helps keep the fizz in solution until you swig it.

You just reminded me, I'd forgotten that my mother did the same thing for us when we were little.

Now, was she trying to make the coke stretch for 6 kids or was she trying to make sure we got our calicum while enjoying a coke?

Laverne of Laverne and Shirley used to use Pepsi to mix with her milk I believe. And I thought that was unusual until I developed a taste for having a Diet Coke when we have oyster stew. So now I know I am wierd but I feel more comfortable knowing others used to mix Coke and milk. Also when we were growing up we used to have ice cream floats made with colas (whatever was cheapest) so I guess cold milk and cola is not far different.

The best Coca-Colas (like the ones I drank when I was a child) are the ones you can buy in the grocery store near the Jewish holiday of Passover (it comes in the spring of the year, near Easter). They are made with real sugar, not corn syrup, and they are kosher. They are delicious! I am not Jewish but I love those kosher Cokes! The grocery stores in our area always have a big display of kosher foods near Passover and the special Cokes are always there. The macaroons are also delicious.

Speaking of which...couldn't you have used a spew alert?? lol Thank goodness I was only drinking water! :cough: :gag: :sputter:

I wish they'd go back to making all soda pop with sugar, it tasted so much better. A while back they came out with Pepsi products with real sugar for a short run. You could only buy them in 20-ounce bottles at convenience stores, so I didn't get to try them all, but I had a Pepsi and a Dr. Pepper, and oh my, they were so good! Probably just as well, or I'd drink way too much!

I used to love getting a pop back in the 60s and 70s out of the machine and it would be so cold it had ice in it. Now those were good too! Now they're hardly more than lukewarm, places are too cheap to keep them cold.

I worked at a local small burger joint in HS....real hand made patties & hand cut fries...

Popular drink I had to make was vanilla cream cokes. One shot of vanilla syrup, 2 shots of cream (which was 1/2 milk, 1/2 whipping cream) and 16oz of coke. Super, super yummy & was very popular.....really good in root beer too.

Dr. Pepper can still be bought made with real sugar, Mt. Dew as well.....Just bought a big case of Dr. Peppers & Mt Dew made with sugar at Sam's for hubby's work cooler.

I haven't had a coke made with real sugar in ages though....

I'm not much of a soda pop drinker...I might have one every other week or so. Two weeks ago and old friend of mine and I went to a Tim Horton's for a lunch. I decided to have a diet Pepsi. Normally I don't drink diet drinks (cause I'm skeptical of what's in them)...I don't know if all diet drinks are like this or maybe because this was a "fountain" drink. It was disgusting!!! I will never have another diet Pepsi, and I might never have another diet soda again. I felt like I was drinking plastic with a chemical 'chaser". Nasty!
