My condolances Erin, it's never easy to lose a parent or family member.
And your right. I think the passing is made much easier if they go and we're not left with feeling that we should have been there more often, said more than we did etc. My mother died 2 weeks after her birthday. She came to me for her birthday lunch and had a wonderful day, ate well, enjoyed a glass of wine, played with my new kitten, told my father she wasn't ready to go home yet and stayed a bit longer. She had to be helped into my house and her trousers were on back-to-front but who cared. I told her I loved her and she gave me a squeeze and told me she love me. She had a relapse a few days later, went into hospital and died. The grief was tempered by the fact that her time had come, she had had a good day on her birthday and nothing had been left unsaid.
