Garden breakfast

Yea! My strawberries are getting riper by the minute. I picked about a quart of ripe ones this am and promptly ate about a pint. Oh my goodness they are too good. Juicy, firm and super sweet! It appears that i still have to battle the rooster pheasant that comes along every year to sample one bite from each berry hanging over the edge of the raised bed. I would not mind if he just ate a couple of whole berries but really, taking a bite from each is just wrong. I eat them anyway! BTW: the rooster pheasant is just beautiful!

I hope you had an extremely large amount of whipped cream to go with the strawberries!

Congratulations! Fresh strawberries over waffles has been my morning routine lately. My strawberry crop was really good this year, too! I guess all of that rain and then HOT weather that followed made for a bumper crop of sweet, early berries. I had strawberries before the local farmers markets did!
