Cute Grandchild story! Had to share!

My granddaughter is now 2. Due to some stresses in her young life (her mother left her when she was 5 mths old, then kidnapped her for 3 months, then when my son got custody has only seen her once in about a year) anyway, she is a little behind on her verbal skills.

My son was playing with her, doing the "animal noises" thing.

"What does a cow say?"----------------"Mooooooo"

"What does a dog say?" ----------------"woof, woof"

"What does a rooster say?"---------------er,er,er,er,eeeeerrr"

Here comes the "cute" part. He's never asked her this before..........
What does Grammy say?"------------------"mmmmmmaaaaaaa" (makes big kissing noise)

Well, she doesn't have a mama, but she definately gets a lot of love.

That is so cute and you are a wonderful grammy for giving so much love to her. Our youngest grandson still isn't bothering to talk. We all know he can. He does the sounds too, but his favorites are farm related - tractor goes buzz buzz with lots of spit, etc.

That is just to sweet!

I'm looking forward to having a granddaughter. My "all boy" grandson is three. I went to TX last week to visit and, while in the car, was playing a game with him...

ME - What do you do with your eyes? Grandson - See
ME - What do you do with your ears? Grandson - Hear
ME - What do you do with your nose? Grandson - PICK IT!

LOL...I couldn't stop laughing and his mommy (my daughter) was NOT happy (they're trying to break him of his new bad habit).

Thats a boy for you!!:smiley-laughing013: Can't wait for one of those either, just hope that I can be a grandmother to the next ones who come along (someday, none are in the works right now) instead of them living with us. But I must say, I AM proud of my son. He is going to school full time (Tx A&M) plus playing college football, plus in the Airforce Reserves and he is still a full time daddy including feeding, bathing and changing diapers. My favorite thing to say is "DDAAAAAADDDDDY, DGD needs a diaper change!" Because when he is home, he does ALL care for her.

Love this post! I babysat for my great-nephew last year and what a joy that was. I had worked on all the animals sounds with him too. He had everything down pat until the day I picked up the Aflac Duck in the toy box. When I asked what the duck said he said "AFlaaac"!! I was dumbfounded that he remembered what that duck said when we pushed the button!

My grandaughter is 2 and has Down's Syndrome so is a bit behind in all areas (especially physical - can't really crawl yet, but her baby brother is showing her how and she follows his lead). My daughter gave her a cookie and after she finished asked her if she wanted another. DD: "Can you say 'cookie'; Do you want another cookie?" DGD: "Iwantthecookie!" We were all amazed. But do you think she would repeat it? No! little stinker. The speech therapist says DGD has gone from the speech level of a 6 mo old to the level of a 22 mo old in the last 2 months. She really has jumped in all areas since her brother (he will be 1 in August) started moving around and babbling more.

Yes, DGD does that too! She'll say something once, then you won't hear it again for a loooong time.

Bless your granddaughter. Children with Down's syndrome are the sweetest, most loving people. If only the so-called "normal" people could be like them.
