A brief history. I am 54 and my wife , Karla is 49. I have 2 grown kids, Kelsi, 23 and Zach, 21. Karl was never able to have kids of her own.
We had discussed adopting off and on since we got married 9 years ago then a year ago this past January, she came in with some kids her and a friend had found on the CPS website. We talked it over, I talked to my kids and we decided to give it a go. Zach was living here at the time and he had to take the 8 all day Saturday classes with us , which he did without much complaining.
After the classes, home inspections, home studies and everything else, Karla started turning in interests on sibling groups. We were interested in kids, up to 3 siblings from 8 up. Group after group and we were passed over for one reason or another.
Then January this year, Karla gets an email asking if we would be interested in 3 sisters, one 5 and twins, 4. A little younger that we talked about, but I said let's see what happens.
About 2 weeks later we were notified we were selected and we needed to read the case histories and such to see if we wanted to proceed, which we did and after reading, we told them we would like to meet the girls.
We met them at the foster home with their case worker, went back for more visits, then they came here for weekend visits, were here for 10 days over Spring Break and as of Good Friday, they have been placed with us permanently til adoption in November.
Here they are after Karla bought them all new sun dresses. Left to right, Kirsten, Karrissa and Kaitlynn.
Karrissa loves all animals. She helps feed the dogs and chickens, gathers the eggs, helps in the garden and is about 80% Daddy's girl.
Kaitlynn also loves to help me with outside chores and loves music. She beats the drums we have here, strums my old guitar and plays on the piano. She also loves live bands.
Kirsten is a momma's girl. She helps with the dishes, clothes and just prefers to hang out with mom. She'll crawl up in my lap before bed, but by and large, she is all momma's girl.
They had tough beginnings with the POS parents they had, but with God's help and our love, I believe they will just fine.
