What would you invent?

Totally silly topic, but I want to ask anyway.

I sometimes joke about the things I'd like to invent and make a million on. One I've been thinking about lately is an electric dog scratcher.

It would have a sort of automatic on/off switch that is activated when the dog steps onto the scratching area. It would have different attachments for the dog's head, back, and rump, so whichever area your dog likes having scratched the most would have the appropriate attachment to put on. It would also have a small, quiet vacuum unit at the top which you could have turn on automatically when the unit came on, for dogs that like being vacuumed; or left in the off position so it would not come on when the unit was activated, for dogs that are afraid of being vacuumed. The scratching unit would have a timer on it so that it would turn off after a predetermined time so the dog would not stand there all day getting it's butt scratched; and the timer would be designed to not come back on immediately, but instead be off for a while. This would discourage the dog getting off the scratching unit and then right back on. It would also prevent the dog from scratching it's own rump raw.

What would your invention be? Surely someone has thought of something they'd like to build and make a million on.

I thought of the ziplock cereal box liner, but someone else did too.

Still working on negative calorie cheesecake. That is more like a BILLION dollar idea.

I would invent a variety of lawn grass that matures at no more than three inches high, thus never needs cutting, for those people who hate to mow:that think it's a waste of time and money (((me))). I believe there's a non-living version of this in use in Arizona...but it's called stone, and another found at sports facilities called astroturf- neither of which feel nice underfoot.

A way to email real 'stuff' to someone. Food would be a great start... "cookie sample? sure not a problem... whats your email?" Then I'd work on transporting people... "oh you need help with that? Be there in a jiffy!" .... Heck if we're goingto dream... dream big, right?

Brakes for grocery cart wheels. You know, like they've got on baby strollers. It would be nice to keep your cart from rolling down the hill every time you turn around to put a bag in the trunk. Seems like such a simple thing!

I have always wanted to invent (since I was a kid and had to help) a round little ball about the size of a grape, that you could hold up in the air and squeeze till it popped and when it did, it would spread a mist over the interior of the house and clean everything away, making the house sparkling and really clean!

Is that possible?

About 15 years ago I came up with this and never did anything with it. Now I see someone is selling them.

Electric hoses. When they freeze up just plug them in and the built in heat tape thaws them out.

Paper towels that make slurping noises when they suck up the mess.

Pants that use the food that you spill on them for nourishment to grow bigger as you get fat.

"Speak check" (sort of like spell check) so that you could try things out before you actually blurt them out.

Oh, and something that might harvest the never-ending supply of evil within cats and use it to generate electricity.

A motor that puts out more power than it consumes.

A commercial pop-corn machine that has an automatic bag filler. I do a lot of concession work for volunteer groups and we sell a LOT of pop-corn and when its busy you can never keep up plus you make such a mess.

A small slotted spoon to be used for getting the last pieces of cereal out of the bowl. I thought about taking the drill and a file to one of the household spoons but I just haven't done it yet...

Too late, already been invented---it's called a jelly spoon or is also used in olives to drain the liquid before you place them on your plate.

A collar, for the rooster that live right outside my bedroom window, like the one they put on dogs. It will zapp him at certain levels of noise. He can still sing just softly.

A beeper for cabinets or drawers left open too long. So when the family members get something out of the cabinets and leave them standing open, after a few seconds they get a beep to remind them to close it. Or maybe an automatic closer.

A voice amplifier kind of thing that would pick up my whispers, and convert it to normal speach.

Yes, it would be neet to have a buzzer going off so you can run to the kitchen and close those doors and drawers that everyone leaves open. Its not like they are going to actually pay attention... they are already out the door by the time the beeper would go off. On the other hand I love those KV drawer closers the guy installed in our cabinets!

I've always wanted to see hard plastic boxes for board games. Those cardboard containers only last so long before they split open at the corners and make a huge mess of all the game pieces. Why can't we have something like rubbermaid containers for our games?
