Going on Vacation!

we are going to Myrtle Beach this yr- my Uncle gave us his time share in SC- I am so excited! I know I have enough in my house to make all our meals in the full kitchen and there is a Sam's Club near by it- I have enough Mypoints to get a 50 $ gift card to a close by seafood resturaunt.. I am thinking we can do this pretty frugal other than the gas to get there- but we have never been on vacation so I know this is gonna be exciting for the kids! anyone have any tips for Myrtle Beach?

I am so excited for you! We love Myrtle Beach!! We have been there many, many times. We always go in October when the prices are low. If you get there on a Sunday then try to buy a Sunday paper as it will probably having good coupons for dining out. We always eat in for the day but go out for dinner. Many places have an early bird special that offers reduced prices. We always take advantage of those. We order water with our meals and then go back to our condo and make coffee. We then take that down to the beach and enjoy it. If you can swing it then go to The Captains Seahouse for breakfast at least one time. For 10.00 (or less) you can eat the most marvelous breakfast buffet. It is so worth the price. In our younger years we would always take advantage of listening to a Time Share offer and would receive free tickets to Dollywood or Dixie Stampede. Both are really fun but pricey. If I remember any more trips I will add them.

We tried to plan a vacation there but had an illness and death in the family, followed by gas prices that make driving RV's that far unattractive. We were interested in some different boat excursions. One was an authentic sailing ship that had a sunset cruise. Being out on the water under sail power, no engine noise, just the wind and waves and creaking of the rigging as the sun set, sounded like a wonderful time. Then, there was a thrill ride of sorts, a 150-passenger hot rod of a boat that seemed like it would be a good time, too. There was another deal that was a guided jet ski tour, you drive your own jet ski and they take you to where dolphons hang out and so forth. Sorry, I threw away all the brochures so I can't give you any specifics or contacts. We had planned for time to just veg out on the beach and relax and enjoy that, too. Neat place, lucky you!

Ooo, how fun for your family!

We'll be in Garden City next month for a vacation. Garden City is just south of Myrtle Beach. If I come across any great deals or family fun ideas, I'll let you know.

Wonderful, we try to go once a year as well. remember that going to the beach is free and collecting shells is a great day. Which resort are you staying at? We like glass towers because it is right on the beach and next to a pier so DH can fish (almost) everyday.

thanks for the ideas!!!! Dh and I have been ordering water with our meals when we do eat out for about a yr now- boy does that make a difference!!! We let the 2 boys get soda cause it is a treat-
BlueberryChick- Thanks! that would be great!
Kmac15- we are staying at the Sheraton Broadway Plantation.
There is a kiddie water pool park type thing there and my Uncle thinks that there is a lazy river now there on the site-
we figure we can go to the beach a coupla days -free- lay at the pool at the Sheraton- free- eat out like 2 times- for the early bird prices and make most meals in the room... My Uncle wants us to take over the timeshare- since his kids are all grown- so this yr is kinda a freebie for us to make sure we like it- he said that it is normally 450 for the fees..a yr.
