Worried sick...AL folks, how is it there?

Can't reach my mom, sister or son. I've called my sister's house and cell, my son's cell and his fiancee's cell and my mom's house. NO ANSWER. I know my son is under a tornado warning right now. Two hours ago he called and said they were without power and had just seen a tree uprooted across the street from their house. When a large tree limb hit their roof they got in the interior hall, which is where he was calling from.

My brother in Mobile just called me to see if I'd heard from anyone. He can't get through either. He said they'd had tornadoes in Phil Campbell, Hackleburg, etc. which is all around my mom and sister's area.

Then I get a message on FB from my best friend in high school. She's in Los Angeles, but her parents still live in near my mom and sister. She said she was able to get through to them, they were okay at the moment (they have a basement...my mom and sister do not) but told her it was really bad in Pebble.

I am worried sick...having chest pains and my head is pounding. If anyone is in the NW AL area, please let me know how things are there.

I imagine the cell towers are down, and sure the telephone poles are down. I pray they were able to get to shelter. Bad situation. I'm sure you'll hear from them soon.

The situation varies a lot. We were pretty much glued to the tv all day. Other than brief power flickers we dodged the bullet completely. Cullman, Arab, and southeastern Limestone county fared much worse.

It is important that people stay off the roads to allow emergency responders and repair crews to work, so you might have to wait a bit before getting news. I'm concerned that Angie seems to be in an area that got a lot of storms and might have suffered damage.

The newspeople were saying that this was the heaviest outbreak they had seen in as many as thirty years. What was particularly odd was how the same places seemed to keep getting repeat hits.

Yes, I'm very worried about Angie. Her area is getting hit hard. It hit Brownsferry Nuclear Power Plant near her and 300,000 people are without power indefinitely. What concerns me most is that she lives in a mobile home.

Son just called me. His area of Huntsville is okay, just downed trees and no power. I've got to do some online research to see if I can find a shelter close enough for them to get to. Still haven't been able to get in touch with my mom or sister. My brother is supposed to call me back if he hears from them, and he hasn't so I'm assuming no one has heard from them yet.

Really concerned about Angie. She was posting on S&EP, said she was in her car charging her cellphone (she was posting from her cell) when things were beginning to get bad in her area, haven't heard from her since.

Prayers for Angie and everyone in the area.

I'm just north of Angie. Huntsville has no power, no power feed from TVA and it may be awhile before power is restored.

One hard hit area was Harvest, the Anderson subdivision lost 40-50 percent of it's homes, over 100 people injured. Other hard hit areas are Decatur, New Hope, Cullman County. There have been several people injured.

Annie and I are hiding under the bed, it's bad up here, but seems to be moving East. I hope things are much improved in the morning. I hope Angie is ok too. The phone lines are jammed, I get busy signals whenever I try to call out.

I've never seen such a freak tornado activity in my life and I've lived in the south for over 30 years. It seems that there was one right after another forming, and they moved along the ground for a long ways. The sirens kept us busy all day and the last one went off here in Ardmore, TN about an hour ago.

I hope everyone is faring ok.

I am online at http://www.waaytv.com/default.aspx talking with people in the area and they are telling me that the area Angie lives in had massive damage is some parts. And they just had another tornado warning issued.

Ravenlost, I'm praying here. Try to relax a little as we don't want you suffering any more chest pains! It's possible the wind has knocked out the cell towers and that's why you can't get through. I'm sure they will call you as soon as the can.

Angie did mention she could take shelter at a nearby school. She may be there.

I tried to call some of my family today (in KY) and they couldn't talk long. Mom was going to call me back but I'm STILL waiting, hours later. She had been in the basement and said there was a tornado near my brother's house. I'm sure they are ok but it is worrysome.

Watching live feed online through Huntsville TV station. It is BAD. There are 12 people missing in Phil Campbell, AL and I still can't get in touch with my sister or mom.

Praying everyone is safe. That same storm system came through here last night. I think we wound up having about 8 funnels over our area but they only touched down for a second or two and dissapeared. Had a little damage in a town about 6 miles from us but no injuries.

It was really strange. There was 8 different super cells that came over about 30 minutes apart. My good friend in a town about 50 miles from here would call when it missed her then I would call her when it misse us. We did that back and forth until the last one went through her place. Then she didn't call, I kept trying to call her and got a busy signal. I finely called her cell and she had lost phone line but was ok.

It is so scary when you can't get hold of your friends and family when something like that happenes.

Angie was typing from her cell phone earlier. Possibly the cell towers went down. She was without power at home.

Just heard Hackleburg, AL is also destroyed. State Troopers have blocked off Phil Campbell.
