EdenPure space heater ...

We are contemplating the purchase of the EdenPure space heater for use in our trailer house. It "sounds" good and, at the present time, we could save nearly $200 purchasing it.

If anyone has experience using it, I would appreciate knowing.

At 1500 watts, it would be cheaper to just run your hair dryer.

There is no free lunch. What you save in "heating costs" you will make up for in "electricity". 1500 watts is the same as running 15 100 watt light bulbs.

ps. I don't personally own one, just related others experiences.

Most of the cost of the Eden Pure is the cabinet.

Consummer's Report didn't like them, saying"

For every degree that you lower your home thermostat in the winter, you'll save about 3 percent on heating costs. So the only way to really save with a space heater would be to use the unit in the room you're in and turn down the thermostat elsewhere in the house so that your main heating system would not operate. To save 50 percent on your heating bill, you'd have to lower the home thermostat about 17°F. Also, based on national average fuel prices, using an electric space costs more than twice as much to operate as a natural-gas-fueled central-heating system.

You can get a propane heater much cheaper, and still have heat during power outages

They are not more energy efficient. A traditional oil space heater produces more heat than this "energy efficient" heater, in my experience.

They are no better then one of those 35 dollar Milk House heaters. After 1500 Watts is 1500 Watts no matter what the outside of the heater looks like, Or how much the price tag is.

I posted this in another thread awhile back. But i highly recommend this space heater.

http://www.heatmyspace.com/2009/03/h...heater-review/

I got it on sale at Walmart for $11 and this winter (we're done using the heat) we've spent about $300 heating the house this winter. When last winter without it i spent over $600. I doesn't really effect the electric bill that I've noticed, its been in its usual range of $100 to $110, and sometimes was in the $90 range so its not killing me on the electric bill to use it.

I love this thing I had the furnace set to keep the house at 69 degrees and the heater being on would keep the house anywhere between 70-73 degrees.

I have no personal experience with them but, my DS ordered one and never could get it. She would call and they would tell her when it would ship but then it wouldn't. After about 3 months she told them to cancel the order and she went to walmart, I think, and bought some kind of heater( oil?) and liked it ok.
