Thumbs up Garage sale SCORES yesterday :)

Lookie what I got!!
1st score at a thrift shop run by two young kids, we've never been in there before..."Oh, no one uses cast iron anymore, $5 for all 3?" I quickly paid them and ran for the hills!!!

They're all wagners. So far from the #'s on the back I've figured out the smallest of the 3 was made between 1935-1959

Then on the way back through town I ran across this....

$10 and just like Goldilocks, "fits just right"! I've never had one that wasn't too wide, tall or excessively heavy feeling

Hope everyone else found some good deals this weekend!

I know I couldn't get out of there fast enough! My oldest kept starting to speak up about "gosh mom loves cast iron" etc, I kept elbowing her LOL

Well done indeed! Love the rocking chair and I would have taken the cast iron home in a minute.

Excellent - those are great scores!

We have a small cast iron skillet that belonged to my parents. I hated it growing up cause the handle broke and my dad just made another one from wood - I was horrified. Now we use it every day and wouldn't give it up for anything, it's a perfect reminder of my dad.

A few years ago at a sale that 2 lady's in there 50's were holding ,, three big cast iron pans 50 cents each , they were rusty , we grabbed all three paid an as we walked away one asked the other ,, what on earth are they going to do with them worthless things ..45 min they looked new , we cook every day with cast iron pans . when the kids were little and went to the doc for blood test ,, you know the one for iron in the blood ,, they were all ways high and the doc always said over 50% of kids have low iron , and take iron tablets , and 25% are borderline .. few are always high. I told him thats cause no one cooks with cast iron any more ..
great buy ,, want to sell it I'll give you $10 for all 3 ,, you will make $5 on the deal ??????????

WOW...great buys! I flat out LOVE my cast iron skillets. My small one was my Granny's, one of the large ones came from an antique store in TX. It's marked "Florence, AL" on the bottom and I grew up near Florence so I was happy to pay $12 for it. The other I got a few years ago at a flea market here. Talked the guy down to $6 and it's my favorite skillet. I use it daily. The only mark on it is an 8 on the handle.

And I dearly LOVE rocking chairs. The one you got is very lovely! I want to collect rocking chairs. Right now I only have four.
