Hard to believe it's been seven years!

Seven years ago today hubby and I moved into our new house here on the farm. I remember it well...much warmer than today. The sun was shining and it was a glorious early Spring day. Today it's rainy, the wind is blowing and it's chilly.

Can't believe how fast the past seven years have gone by. It's just a blur. We get so caught up sometimes in all that we have to do, but looking back at photos made during our first year here I realize that we really have accomplished a lot. It's amazing how much things have changed without our even noticing it.

I think when hubby gets home from work tonight I'll share some then and now photos with him.

I think your NOW picture of the house needs to be with the flowers and trees and not the snow.

I really like that barn, too. I would make a wonderful (large) house.

I love the barn! You could live in the loft part and keep the lower part for all your critters! It's huge!

Yeah, having trouble with the computer so gave up on finding a "now" photo without the snow.

OLF...if the house ever burns down we plan to do just that...turn the barnloft into our living quarters. The barn is 40'x40'. There are six stalls for the horses (we only have four horses now) plus a feed room on one side and a tack room on the other. We had a well dug at the barn and power run to it, so renovating would not be difficult. The inside of the barn was finished out in very nice pine boards.

Some of the changes to the house...

Over the steps to the front door there is missing gingerbread. Hurricane Rita took off one side, Hurricane Katrina took off the other side.

There are trees and shrubs around the house now. The six Leyland Cypress trees we planted on the south side of the house are HUGE now. Seven years ago they were only two feet tall.

There was no fence around the front and back yards. In fact, there were no fences anywhere! Now we have 13 acres fenced for the horses and the front and back yards are fenced separately for the dogs.

Seven years ago I didn't have a clothesline. I do now!

And, of course, the house is needing some upkeep after seven years. We've decided the builder used watered down interior paint to paint the outside trim AND used untreated pine for the trim and porch rails! Porch rails are warping and coming apart. There's a hole in the south side of the house that a plumber had to make this summer when the cheap fixtures the builder used rusted out and flooded the downstairs. And on and on and on...I could write a book about all the things the builder did wrong, which is why we would not rebuild...just move into the barn if something happened to the house!
