pickled eggs

ive made my own pickled eggs for years.today i bought a dozen eggs from the grocery store and did the eggs the same way.but when i peeled them, the shells were very thin, and 3 of them were not cooked thru.had trouble peeling them too.
ive done them the same way my dad taught me,same minutes same brine.but any ideas why the eggs would shells would be so thin?
thanx

Getting close to time to swap out the flock in the production house the eggs came from. Keeping them laying 24/7 with diet and lighting burns em out fast and they are only good for about one year then they have to be replaced with new pullets cause the egg quality goes down, ie. thin shells, mishapen, lots of soft shells. After you take them off the stove and drain the water off, transfer them to a bowl of ice water for about ten minutes before you peel them, that sometimes helps. Use lots of ice.

RebD, He bought eggs at the store. Cel, even w/recent improvements, commercial growers don't all treat hens very well that lay those eggs for grocery stores. I'm guessing they trimmed back to the bare minimum how much calcium content in the feed. Not like the farm, where we leave a dish of oyster shell & feed back all the shells. Sue
