The apples were just the icing on the cake...

Well yesterday I scored a great deal on Craig's list.
3, 5ft Gala apple trees for $12 a pop. Not too shabby.

But not only did I get a great deal on the trees, the older gentlman
selling them had a lot of the projects going on at his place that
interested me and seemed to have been at it for a long time.
How cool! :banana02: I could have talked
his ear off with questions. But tried to hold back a little...
really wanted to go poking around his homestead, like a kid
in a candy store, lol.
.
I think I'll keep his # in the phone,He seemed very approachable
with info.
Is that weird? "Hey remember me, you sold me some
apple trees a few months ago....My husband and I have a question
about chickens...say got anything else for sale?"

Have a great day everyone

Congrats on the great find! We've been scoring really good on craigslist lately too.

I don't think that it's weird at all, if he's approachable and willing to share info, then why not. People who raise animals/have hobbies/have "projects" that they work on like to talk to other people who are interested in what they're doing.

Who knows, you may have the starts of a life long friendship

I found a wonderful new friend that way. I called him one evening after getting something from him and ask if I could keep his contact for information. He was really helpful to us. Over the last 5 years, we have become tight friends and he has even come to visit us and we could not have a better friend.
I say to keep the number and talk to him! I hope you have as good of luck as we did.

I don't think it's weird to keep his number either. Like the other posters said he would probly be somewhat flattered if you called to ask his opinion on things or needed answers to some of your questions, older folks have been around longer so I always think they probly have more knolwdge about more things.

Besides if he lives alone he'd probly be happy for some company once in awhile too.

Great find on the fruti tree's, hope they do well for you.

I would think he'd be thrilled to have a younger person interested in what he loves and knows. When I was young I made friends with a lady in my neighborhood who was in her eitghties. She and I shared so much in common. They love to pass on to young people. Have fun!!
