vacation dilemma

I booked our accommodations thru Allegient Airlines for Las Vegas. It's a package deal, airfare and hotel. I didn't realize this until I had paid with my credit card but it appears that they charge per person for the room. To me, this seems like we are paying double. 2 people, 1 room. Is this right?
Thanks.

Allegient Air is a big ripoff IMHO. But, it's normal to be charged Per Person, This was a package deal right?. Where are you flying out from. Beware, some airports only have one or two flights a week, if it gets cancelled because of weather ect, I guess you could always walk.

It should have given you a total when you finished booking, did the $ total seem like you've been charged per person? DH and I have booked in LV (not a package deal though) and were charged for the room, not per person.

Southpaw, it's airfare. You are certainly going to be charged per person.

The room won't be double price. They take the cost of the room and divide it in half and add it to the per person charge to make the price simple.

The Las Vegas packages are usually a real bargain. They expect to make their profit off all the money you will lose gambling.

If you want to see a show, better book now, because the good ones are always sold out.

It seems to me, in doing the math, the room rate is per person. Oh, and the free shuttle service to and from the airport is 15.00 per person. That really irritates me. We don't fly much. This trip is a big deal and we are on a budget. I tried calling but the lines are either busy or its a long wait. Can a person cancel the hotel part of it? I read their policy and I'm still not clear. I think we can make changes. Also, lots of misc. charges that are not clear either. Like segment fees, PFC, convience fees, etc. This is not starting out very well for our first vacation in many years. Maybe we are just nieve.

Some places do that so they can suck you in with a low number. For instance, my daughter wanted an expensive camera for Christmas. I found a great price, didn't realize till later that the memory card was separate. And the camera doesn't work with a memory card. Just little mind games they play....

Before you get set on making changes, make sure there really is a better deal out there. And even if you can change, there may be a fee. Good luck, if you haven't traveled for many years you'll find that things are very different. More complicated.

Southpaw, I went to the Allegient site and plugged some numbers in (it's Sunday and I am procrastinating on fixing the dryer...), I pulled up a random flight/hotel package twice - once for one person and once for two.

The only difference in the price was the extra for the flight - the hotel said "per person" when I had two people booked, but was twice as much and also said "per person" when I only had the one person booked. So, I think the room is the same - it's just telling you how much it ends up being per person.

But, yes, there will be all sorts of fees tacked on. We have a "free" reservation in Atlantic City next month - not counting taxes, resort fees, etc, etc. Not sure how much this "free" room will end up costing us.

Digital cameras don't come with memory cards now so that you can get the size you want.

Never heard of Allegient at all.

Al;legiant is a low cost airline that saves money by flying to the smaller airports. Fr' instance, here in Florida, they don;t fly into Orlando. They fly into Sanford, the city nest door to the east. They don't fly intop Tampa, they fly into pinellas/Clearwater, across Tampa Bay. The terminals are smaller and less crowded but offer all the same amenities. I fly my grandchildren down from Greenville, SC last July. The flight nearest to July 4 was $169. I flew them down for the 3rd weekend in July . Cost was $9 apiece.
Of course, they charge you a feee for booking on the internet or the call center, so we book our tickets at the airports. There are taxes and security fees and fuel surharges and luggage is checked at $50 a bag. They fly with carryons and we mail their stuff home when they leave. There are fees for arranging seating ahead of time and a seperate fee if you want to sit together. I think by the time we had the grands set up their tickets cost $59. Still not a bad deal.
I am terrified to fly and the best, smoothest flight I had was on Allegiant.
