Exclamation Lake Effect

Well my county is getting hit real good again with that blasted lake effect. This time I'm not safe and sound at home but am at work in a county over that is pretty and sunny out. But I'll be driving home thorugh this:

* Hazards... rapid snow accumulation and northwest winds gusting to
30 mph will result in considerable blowing and drifting
snow... and possibly near white out conditions.

* Impacts... travel will be difficult and potential dangerous this
evening... including along Interstate 94 and the Indiana toll
Road. Rapid snow accumulation may make it difficult if not
impossible at times for Road crews to keep roadways cleared at
times. If you must travel this afternoon and evening be sure
you have a full tank of gas and bring along a winter survival
kit in your car.

I'm going to need a couple of guardian angels to get me home tonight LOL

Good luck, be safe, but I would think real hard into getting a hotel for the night and wait it out for tonight.

I can sleep here at work if I really need to so I'll call home near when it's time to go and see what DH says about the roads. I just hope they don't declare it a state of emergency and close all the roads again or I will have to stay here.

Ick--drive carefully. I hate dealing with lake effect when we're trying to travel--it's why we've resisted leaving town at all during the winter for the past few years. It's also one of the reasons I've wanted to move back to Virginia!

one can never know what lake effect snow is really like like unless they experience it. i lived in far northern michigan for 10 years, so i know all about it. if the plows can't keep up with the snow or are pulled off the road, it aint gonna be a good idea to drive. stay safe and drive according to conditions.

I just always tell myself that I am glad it's happening in Jan and not April. 18 inches and more forcasted for tomorrow. Much worse to the north and south of us.

It missed my town somehow but the next town over got hit! So driving home was not a problem. All that worry for nothing! Well, This morning I'm grabbing the snow shoes and heading to the dunes for some play time
