Do you ever completely forget

where you have hidden your kids' presents?

DD's presents have started trickling in in the post. I have to say that she is a good kid, and I don't need to REALLY hide them - just make sure they are out of casual sight. But I hav ejust come home from doing the local shopping (stationery, toiletries etc that Santa brings) and I went to put them away, and I can't find 2 of the things that I KNOW arrived in the post. I am sure I know where I put them, but they aren't there!!!

AAARRRGH - I must be getting old - heaven help DD when I am 90 LOL

Your DD probably knows where they are, just ask her to help.

Been there done that. LOL

I bought a leather bound diary for DD when she was 8. Christmas came and I could not find it anywhere. We have since moved many times, and it has never been found. It is probably in the house we sold, still hidden very very well.

Hope you find the presents!

BF's gifts have been trickling in via UPS or the post office.....yesterday, the UPS man delivered and I stared at that box like a monkey doing a math problem: I could NOT remember what in the world hadn't arrived yet!

Now, it's like Christmas for me each day he comes and delivers something I had forgotten I bought for BF......

I am wrapping them and putting them under the tree AS THEY ARRIVE, because I *know* I won't be able to find them if I hide them......

I haven't done it, but with 3 girls in the house mom would always hide little things that we would wind up finding through the year. LOL

On a positive side, she will enjoy receiving those gifts for Easter JUST as much as if she had received them at Christmas! (personal experience here)

Yes, I have. Not only forgot where I hid, but completely forgot about all together. Thank goodness it was just a small extra gift, that was found some months later.

I scored a very hard to get toy for one of the kids , I was so happy, showed it to the other grownups , we were all very pleased. I put it away and NEVER found it again. Was a board game ( Pokemon monopoly ) so not small and I have moved since then. When I die , if there is a heaven , I hope they tell me what happened to that game

Okay, so each of us will suggest hiding places, Hoggie, and you go check it and report back to us:

back of closet shelf?
under the stairs?
under stuff in the linen closet?
behind stuff in the pantry?
under the sofa?

My mother once hung small wrapped packages on the tree as decorations....on Christmas Day she told us some of our smaller gifts were actually inside.

I am so relieved to hear that I'm not the only one. *whew!*

I've been wrapping them as they come in too, just so I don't have to hide them. I hide them too wellI even hide them from me.

I have had things I've given months later. It's a little embarrassing.

Since the tree is up, I try and wrap them as they come, but stuff that I bought througout the year is scattered through the house. I bought my son some Lincoln Logs last summer and hid them away and I can't remember where they are.

I always tie one of those little Laughing Cow cheeses on each package before I hide it.

The foil wrapper keeps it moist and, in a few weeks, rotting cheese bursts through.

Then, the hidden packages are much easier to find.

I keep everything in a plastic tub in the basement. As the year goes on I keep cracking a corner up and toss things in. So by December I have NO IDEA what might be in there! One of DS's gifts was too big to fit (I bought it from the neighbor this summer at her garage sale - her boys only put it up once then back in the box it went) SO I wrapped it, and it has been sitting on the basement shelf for 6 mos. Neither kids has noticed this big boxed covered in Christmas wrap!! I bet I could hide stuff in their room and they wouldn't notice (among all the clothes, blankets, stuffed animals, junk paper, and books on the floor)

Jinx, this thread is a jinx.

I went to get a gift to wrap today and it wasn't where I thought it was. It took me awhile (after I tore two closets apart), but I did remember where I hid it.

Yes

I just found 2 cool cutting boards my hubby bought me last yr...I think he is really bad at this. I put all my stuff in a large green tote. If it's too large, it gets wrapped in plain brown paper and I sit it on top.

Oh, yes!!! My children used to really enjoy when they found something stashed - they would always say 'Merry Christmas' - no matter what time of year.
