What I Got at the Auction :)

Alas, not the kind of auction y'all talk about so often, with livestock or other homestead-related goodies. This was a fundraising auction to benefit three professional organizations, one of which I belong to, and they had various stuff like movie tickets, artwork, radio ad time, a cooler full of expensive beer etc.

There was a list of things available for pre-viewing, and the one thing out of the many I saw that I wanted was a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit course, for two people. I wanted it for myself, but also I knew hubby wanted it. Not because we're really going to carry guns around with us, but it's just nice to have for the sake of learning. I've shot guns before, of course, but not for many years and I'm still a little skittish about them. We have some locked up in a nice, secure safe.

I knew that classes go for about $100 each to satisfy the requirements for the permit -- the certificate said "value $400" but those are always exaggerated. It was a silent auction, just write your bid on paper. Opening bid was $150. I put my bid down --

And can you believe nobody else wanted it?

I guess that says something about the crowd that attended the event; mostly marketing professionals. I told some of the people I knew that I was bidding on that and their eyes just bugged out wide as platters. I definitely don't look like the kind of chick who would want to wield a firearm. But I think I saved at least $40, maybe more on this class and now I've got something nice for DH and I to do together and improve ourselves.

Cool, huh?

I took the same course...I think it ran about 12 hours and was about $150. Hope you get it.

Why not? Having guns all nicely locked up in a gun cabinet is worthless when you need them.

Hope you enjoy the training and change your mind about carrying.
