'Sticker' Shock!!

Got the bill from my testing, tdap & flu shot.
Crapweasel!
The cost of the tdap shot (which i'd forgotten I had gotten a whole MONTH earlier at the health department for the grand cost of 13 bucks, total) was 96 bucks and the fee for the nurse to poke me with the needle? 35 bucks!!!
Ye gads.

Cheapest flu shots I've seen advertised are $29.99.
They are expensive.

You gotta remember that provider offices spend more time doing shots than just the time you spend with them. These meds are not cheap and come with a lot of liability.

Flu shots can be given at Walmart and other chain stores because they give them in great numbers.

yep went to the flu shot clinic at the hospital here in Mountain View Mo and its 30 bucks. I could have gone to my doc and paded a copay of 12 but its about 55 miles away so by the time I pay for the gas I just got it here and saved myself half a day LOL

I'm pretty sure I saw a flu shot available just the other day for $15. Think maybe it was in a Walmart store but haven't a clue what agency/who was providing them at that cost. Perhaps the county health dept.

Not to steal the thread, but my sticker shock came last Tuesday when I priced new Ford pickups. The base price before shipping or anything added on was nearly $30,000. I paid $10,500 for my last one and it was fully loaded and included the shipping and dealer prep.

I think I'd rather plunge $30,000 into a different house than a pickup which will lose value quickly.

Sorry for the thread drift.

Here in the PNW Flu shots are $25.00 if one goes to Walmart, Safeway, Walgreens. If I were to go to my doc it'd be $90.00

The last time I got a flu shot I somehow came down with a 'almost killed me' viral infection, no more flu shots for me!

I got mine at Walgreens. And they had 29.99. But I had insurance coverage that took care of it. And I was glad this year it is combined with the H1N1 so you get both in one shot.
None of this getting 2 different ones.

I got mine a WalMart for free since I am on Medicare. That also saves me a copay at the doctors office. The nurse giving the shots was very good too.

It wasn't just a flu shot, I had it done there since they were already pokin' me so much. The breakdown is this (bloodwork for fibro testing and the shots):

96 for tdap
35 to give it
24 for flu
29 to give it
183 for the office visit
30 for the cbc
48 for the metabolic
24 for the rhuematoid
19 for the iron
50 for transferrin
52 for lab/tsh ?
12 for venipuncture
72 for the follow up

This practice gives a 40% discount on office visit fees if paid at the time of service. If not and paid out over time (like I have to) then there is no discount.
