Little or Tiny Houses

I have loved looking at these Tiny Houses and thinking of how neat it would be to have one, even if only for weekends.

I think I could live in a Small house, as long as I had a LARGE sewing barn behind it.

But my favorite site for looking at Tiny houses and related items is
www.tinyhouseblog.com and recently I've seen this one on this blog and it is so charming I just had to share the dreaminess of it to lighten your day.

http://myshabbystreamsidestudio.blog...-and-twee.html

I've thought of getting one of those 2 storied Home Depot barn houses that can easily be 400 ft on bottom and 400 on top (a 20 x 20) and someday make one for a house, and one for sewing.

Just some things to give you ideas that may work in a space in your place, new place or just in your dreams.

have a great Saturday -
Angie

Oh two more places to explore

www.countryplans.com they have neat small house plans for the build it yourself-er I have on plan for that day when I have land and money.

http://www.sheldondesigns.com/
another with small house plans.

I am not part of any of these sites, I just like them for the imagination of the small houses.

I would treasure one of those. To me, bigger house = more and constant upkeep and cleaning. Mom, full time shift worker, hobby farm player...I HATE wasting my time having to clean!! People gawk at huge mansions...I just think how much more work that is.

There is one more site for imagination, but I think the prices are wild. I like it cause I think using a HomeDepot/Lowes large storage barn and using some of the information decoration, could make something nice and charming but not as costly.

http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/

Let your imagination soar.!

(and find a neat woodland to park one in).

Let me tell you, between the stinkbug invasion (still ongoing inside), the decisions of my dogs to use the downstairs as a personal bathroom, the dog hair, spider webs and dust...I would be happy to live in a closet. Alone.

To most people it sounds rediculous. But I've always dreamed of living in a RV styled home.
Not an RV persay, but a home like it. A small bedroom, just enough space for a bed and perhaps a small closet, (I think I would miss having a bathtub though). A small everything has a place just functional kitchen, and a sitting area.

If I were to be alone, no family I would have one in a heartbeat.

DH and I have actually been playing around with the idea of adding a used RV or a converted storage building to our property as a more independent living situation for our older son. He's a full-time college student who works part time as a computer tech. We're blessed that he's able to live at home with us and go to school, but he's ready to be a bit more independent. His income just isn't enough to rent an apartment, but I'd like to see him have his own space. When he's ready to move on, the space would be available for the next son, who is now 15.

they are really cute, too. On the yellow one, I LOVE the light blue ceiling to the front porch.

And mammathea - I wish my regular mobile home had the built - in , use space more wisely as in an RV. I'd even like to have the "basement" of some larger RV's in this regular type single wide.

It's the charm of these that speak to me a lot.

I'm a big fan of Ross Chapin (http://www.rosschapin.com) and John Gower (http://www.bcmountainhomes.com/homes.php). Both of them design some very intriguing small homes.

thanks for sharing the links so I can dream and drool... I love the romantic shabby chic style of furnishings.

actually, when the remodeling is complete, I'll be content with what we have; a small (not tiny) home that's incredibly easy to keep clean. DH and I are still laughing about our electric bill this month. It's the cheapest one yet at $80 because of the new energy efficient stuff we've had installed. And we get a tax refund.

I'm dreaming of restoring an old Airstream for our NC property, it could be a guest room, reading room, get away space - whatever I want it to be. Might be more work than I'm physically up to, but I'd love to try.

I was in the attic yesterday, the type that can only be accessed by ladder. As soon as my head came through the floor I was hit by stinkbug stench. I keep my Christmas stuff up there so unpacking it will not be fun this year.

I could definitely be happy in that little white house. The only thing missing is a cat curled up on the bed. I guarantee I'd fall out of the loft during the night though.

I love the idea of those tiny houses. I think I could do that pretty easily but I would like to have a summer kitchen outside with plenty of room for canning, etc.

I lived in a small A frame when the kids were little and no thanks...I need personal space and a place to be quiet and alone at times...It was all we could afford to build at the time, and have since, added on the dining room, and kitchen, and second bath. we also added a large bedroom that makes me feel wonderful whenever I go to bed....I love my bigger home, even though its getting harder to keep up with all the cleaning....Where the hecks the maid when I need her? lol

I hear you....when the kids were very small we lived in the downstairs of a house while the upstairs was rented out. After our tenant moved out, my dh started renovating it back to one house. We had OUR OWN bedroom (used to have the youngest in with us) and a second bathroom. To make things even more exciting, both the toddler and the dog were afraid to navigate the stairs. Space, privacy, and everything stayed clean. Heaven.

So I understand the attraction of a bigger place. Within the next few years I'll most likely be living alone and yeah, I think I could be happy in a tiny home if all the space was mine.

Angie, a friend of ours has the two story home depot buildings. It is VERY nice. Plenty of room to have a sewing room downstairs with a cosy couch and kitchen area, and a bedroom upstairs.
Next time you are at a home depot, go look! Of course, it is much cheaper to take account of all the materials needed and price it out that way.

My Grammy had a tiny house and my mother and two Aunts were raised in it, only one bedroom, a miniature kitchen and bathroom. To me it was just way to small.

I have to admit.. am very happy living in a 1800 sq ft house, won't want any thing smaller. At least in this rainy clime.

But some of those tiny houses would make a wonderful Art studio!!
