So......a sure sign of summer......FIREFLIES!!!

Was walking back home in the dark and looked out on the fields and nearby swamps
and started seeing the telltale flashes of light in the grasses.......occasionally a few
flew up into the sky and illuminated their message of love to those waiting below.
How many others have started seeing lightning bugs already? Seems like this is the
earliest that we've seem them ever......most times we don't start seeing them until
mid-June or later around the mid-Michigan area.

I've seen them the last couple of evenings here. Looks like there is going to be more of them than we've had the last 2 or 3 years.

Here in southern MD we've had their display since May. They almost look like the little twinkle lights at Christmas! Takes me back, Reb

May have to trek out tonight and see if they are here, yet. After 3 years without I'm sure the kids would enjoy and evening of enjoying them.

We have lots of them here. Love to watch them putting on such a brilliant twinkling light display.
One thing we've noticed about them here over the U.P. ...... they fly so much higher here! They were shining all the up to the tops of our tall oaks and maples the other night.

Fire flies are a spring thing here. It was a great year for them this time, but these last couple of nights I've seen maybe two.

I saw my first two fireflies of the season last night. I was laying in bed looking out the window and there was a flickering out there. Looked again and there was another....I love Fireflies !

I just started seeing them a few days ago too and thought it was rather early, but then we had a very early spring so maybe that's why. I love to watch them. There's just something magical about them.
