Any GPS recommendations?

We're finally going to break down and get a GPS. I want to take the grandkids on trips while they're here for the summer, so that's moved the idea ahead.

Any recommendation? I've done research on the internet and it's mind boggling. I found a Garmin nuvi 755T for about $161 and it had lifetime traffic updates, built-in FM transmitter and is a 4.3 screen. It doesn't have bluetooth, but I guess that's OK.

Any pros, cons on what I should look for?

I love my nuvi and that one looks even better - mine does not have lane guidance and that looks like a great feature.

Got my Garmin at Amazon think it is the nuvi 285 ?? .Not a bad price on the one you are talking about . Just be aware sometimes they are wrong . Be sure you get the wide screen

Got a larger truck that the speedometer don't work on this was the cheapest fix .

Check out this site, it helps with most questions like what you need and might not need, and has a pretty good cross ref. section to do a little camparison shopping.

Of course if you just want someone to tell you: Buy unit "X"... its the best, sorry can't help there as there are too many variables.

What might be just the ticket for me, might be more (and overkill) or less (and missing features that you need) than what is "Best" for you and your needs.

There are a staggering amount of choices available today.
End result is good, but getting there is a bit of a long and windy road.

A whole lot depends on what you want to do with the GPS. I have a DeLorme PN40 because I wanted something I could use hiking and biking and such. I want geocaching capabilities and the ability to record trap sites and fishing holes and such.

So, what do you want a GPS do to?

I think Office Max still has magellan on offer at just over $100, normally a lot more. I have one and like it a lot.

Thanks Mtview42 - lots of information to wade through on that website too.

I've actually found a new Garmin nuvi 1390 which is only $7 more and has bluetooth capability. I'm only needing a GPS for adventureous day trips (so nothing too pricey), but I want it to be portable, easy to see and have the FM transmission ablilty. The blue tooth is a nice added convenience for my long drives home.

Garmin is the only company that is worth using. Any model, I dont think it matters that much, just whatever features you like the best. We have a 750, it is an older one, we have upgraded the maps a few times, it works great and it is the ONLY company that actually can find our house!! LOL
