Question Raw Honey

Does anyone know of any place on the Internet that sells raw honey with the comb in it?

The last place we had around here that sales honey like that has closed they had the best produce, honey an deli food there was but now they've close down. This is AWFUL that they closed.

Have you tried local beekeepers? I would google something like beekeeping associations and your location. You should end up with a contact number of someone in a local association that way. They should be more than happy to sell you some honey with the comb in it or direct you to someone who can.

raw honey

I just found out recently that our county is now forbidding the sale of raw honey. All must be pasteurized before sale. Seems like I saw an article about this being more widespread than just our county too.

If you can get to know a beekeeper in your area, you may be able to obtain raw honey through him/her. I have friends who keep bees and I trade butchered rabbits for honey. Gotta love the barter system!

Contact your state's beekeeper association, and get their list of members.

The best place I know for ordering honey online is Rudy's, but I just looked, and it says they're all sold out of raw honey with the comb. They had some about a month ago, sorry. Here's the link, in case you want to save it for future reference. They have excellent honey and the best online price I've found in three years, shipping is very reasonable too. I buy 5 gallons at a time, lol.

we (southern beekeepers) should be harvesting this years honey in a couple of months. I agree with finding a local beekeepers group, check at the local ag building.

I'm sure there are beekeepers closer. I don't know where you are in SW Virginia, but there are clubs in Roanoke and Wytheville to name two. Contact them and ask if they can connect you to a nearby beekeeper who sells what you're looking for:

Another alternative is to post your request on one of the big "bee boards". Beesource has a "Wanting to Buy" subforum:

Interesting, since honey isn't pasteurized. Most store-bought honey has been heated and micro-filtered to extend shelf life, but since honey is a natural antibiotic, there are no organisms to be killed by pasteurization. That's why it doesn't need refrigerated and can sit on the shelf for years and not spoil.

eBeeHoney in Ohio sells raw and comb honey. I have been buying honey from them for years. Great service and a wonderful product. We are particularly fond of the raw orangeblossom and locust honeys.

I second Rudy's honey. If they are out as soon as they harvest the next batch they will have it. We bought 5 gal. from them 2 years ago and shipping on the 5 gal was only 18$. I'm sure it's gone up some but they have really good honey. What we got was from wildflowers.
