Ok, this may seem like a no brainer, but we just bought our propane tank and it needs some sprucing up. There is some rust that needs to be attended to also. What kind of paint do I use on it? Would it be ok if I use rustoleum rust primer on it and then paint it a light color?

the two nicest ones that I saw that were painted were, the first is painted a bright yellow with a happy face on the end pointing out.... the other is at a dairy farm in Minnesota... someone cut out and attached a wooden head and neck and painted it all to look like a cow... that place also had his fuel barrels done the same... mike
The kids & I painted our tank. I got several small cans of Rustoleum in camoflage colors and we painted it using paint brushes. That design is easy for little kids to do! It actually turned out pretty well and has lasted a long time. Got a chuckle out of our propane guy, too.
