Proud Dad

In decades to come will the dad in this news story be more proud that he taught his kids the constitutional right to freedom of speech or that he taught them to disrespect others, such as himself?

After getting a ticket he gestured and verbalized to the policeman and was given another ticket for disorderly conduct. He sued the police department and won a small amount.

In years to come his children will no doubt gesture and verbalize to their dad. I really do wonder how he will feel about what he taught them? What goes around comes around. Reap what you've sown dad!

I don't think he should've gotten a penny. Sounds like a real jerk.

What his children will learn is that a uniform and a gun does not make someone right.

The use of the "bird" as an opinion has been upheld by the supreme court so the officer can not claim ignorance of the law.

A quick search of this site shows 186 threads with the word "sheeple" in it.

Okay, so it is not illegal to cuss and flip off a cop, or behave like a pig in public.

That still doesn't make it right, and the guy did not deserve to be rewarded for boorish behavior, IMHO.

Shame on him. I agree with Windy, he can expect to be treated by his chidren with the same level of "respect" and self-restraint in future.

I am not a sheeple for expecting a grown man to behave with a little dignity and decorum in front of his kids. On the contrary, that makes me more of a maverick by today's societal standards.

Piffle.

As I said before, being legal does not make it right.

Legally wrong vs. morally wrong. That is the problem with society today. You can't "force" morals.

He went off on the officer because the traffic stop made his children cry. Had he followed the rules of the road the children would have had nothing to cry about. Sounds to me like he got mad at the wrong person. I'd even question whether the children were crying because they were afraid of the police officer or because daddy was throwing a fit. My kids used to cry when their dad yelled too.

Along with the "sheeple" threads we have quite a few here on stupid lawsuits.
