Got a dog today.... =)

March 2nd I had to have my dog put to sleep.... I insisted that it would be a long time till I got another dog, if ever.... But if I did, it would be an adult dog, that needed saved somehow....

My neighbor has had this dog for a few years.... Last year, I had actually turned her in for abandonment of this dog (she couldn't afford to stay in her trailer for the winter, but left the dog and would only come back every few days to feed).... the dog warden showed up & gave her a warning.... Next thing we know the dog was gone.... I was thankful, and hoping he was being taking care of....

Last spring she moved back, but without the dog.... 2 months ago, the dog is back.... tied up out back.... I've observed things & paid attention....

A couple weeks ago her & I were talking... I told her about my dog dieing.... Right away she offered me that dog... I told her no, it was just way too soon....

Well I finally had enough, and went over today.... He came home with me.... He was only being fed every 2 or 3 days.... being kicked b/c he was so excited for human interaction....

He's 4 years old.... Husky/Lab mix.... very active... Won't take me long, and he'll be trained nicely.... =)

What an awesome story! You have a huge heart to offer this poor dog a loving, caring and healthy home. He is going to respond wonderfully to training for sure...I'm sure he is hungry to learn and interact. Good for you and your new dog!!!!!!

What a blessing for you and your dog. May God give your neighbor the wisdom she needs so she never gets another dog.

Sadly she has another dog... a small Pomeranian that is kept inside, and pampered.... that's what made me even madder....

I think you 'found' the perfect dog. After all, you've been looking after him for quite a while . I'm happy for your new family member!
