Question Any lawyers? Curiosity question

I'm studying to be a paralegal and am currently researching case management software. I'm curious which software you use, if any, and why you chose that particular program. (BTW the homework assignment regarding this is already turned in, so I'm not asking for help.)

WIHH, you may be right!! Hopefully paralegals don't carry the same stigmatism as lawyers do!

Case Load Software

FarmMom, how much data are you looking to manage? Is this a small or large database of information? My wife is a paralegal at a local large employer and I can ask her what they use and if that will help you out.

We are a 2 attorney/1 paralegal (me) and 2 staff firm and we use Practice Advantage f/k/a Time Matters. For such a small firm I feel this intensive type of software is extremely burdensome (how's that for some paralegal type talk?) I spend more time documenting every piece of paper that comes in the door and making notes, etc. than I do on the actual work. It is my belief that this type of system only works for a medium to large firm that either can afford to hire a person to do the time management exclusively and/or that does a significant amount of complex litigation (which we do not - primarily bankruptcy and probate). And don't get me started on how often it crashes.....

What did your research find?

Kitty

So far I've looked at AbacusLaw, Law Files, and a few others. They all look pretty complicated to me!:0
I'll be finishing my paralegal course in December, and hope at that time to be able to find a decent job. I'm considering going on to be a court reporter, but haven't decided yet.
