That is Great!! Such an accomplisment. My dhquit smoking 4 yrs. ago this April. I quit for 2 years & was doing so good & then I fell off the wagon & started smoking again. Been smoking about 6 months again. I will really quit again but how dumb could I be, now I'll have to go through all the hard parts those first few days, weeks & months!! Dummy me!

Congrats. I quit 18 years ago after smoking for 23 years. Backforty, my DS who had to have a quadruple bypass and suffers from depression had been quit for a couple years and on day decided she would start smoking again. She lives in Louisiana and I live in Alabama. I was talking to her on the phone one night and she dropped that little bombshell on me. She had just started back that week. I went ballistic! I told her I would get in my car and drive over there and kick her butt into next week. I went off on her big time. I told her to tear them up and put them in the trash and she did. I was dead serious and she knew it. Of course, she also knew she had to not smoke. I cannot tell you how upset I was at that. I love my sister and it just felt like a very selfish thing for her to do to her family. Sorry for the rant. Good luck with quitting again. Now get to it.

Wow TG, that is awesome! Congrats to all the 'quitters'! This is one of only a handful of activities where being a quitter is a good thing.

I think I remember you posting about your start-of-quit, too!

Congrats all you former smokers. Here's to health and long life! Well, and financial prosperity.

My DH was a heavy smoker from the age of thirteen to twenty-four. He quit for my birthday, six years ago. That man has too big and kind a heart to let rot for the sake of a bit of tobacco.

That is wonderful. I'm impressed also that you figured out all the stats. It will be 25 years for me.

Vicki, I used www.quitnet.com when I quit-it was a way to track my progress.
It's a free site and you can put your start date(I don't know if it does retro or not) and the other factors such as how many a day & the $$ per pack and it will calculate your stats.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I think quitting is one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Oh WELL DONE! For those who WANT to stop smoking, hearing about someone who has done it can often be the final straw to the "okay, I'm going to do it!" That quitnet.com site sounds like a really great help Imagine...all that money saved...wow. Not to mention your lungs.

Congratulations on your anniversary!
