Where to find Wheat Montana Prairie Gold?

I have, in the past, ordered directly from the company. I put my 100lbs of wheat in my cart, went to check out and cheapest shipping was $185! ouch.

Anyone know where it can be purchased where the shipping isn't quite so high? No where to get it locally (NC), unfortunately.

ok, go to the Something Better Natural food site, then go to the delivery schedule...there you can see there are a couple of 'route's for NC, I think ours is 5B.......at each of these stops, usually there are a number of families that order together....to make the required amount necessary for a delivery....so the shipping is shared...and it is reasonable...50 pounds of PG wheat berries is 23.50....I don't think the coop shipping fees are more than 8-10.....but you need to see if you can find the coop people for your area....and if you are near Shelby at all, I can hook you up...it would be worth a drive of even an hour or so....you can PM me with your location if you like....I think our coop is ordering again in Mar...when you go to the something better site, you can go to the catalog and shopping cart and just see what they have and the prices....we do NOT order individually from them...only as a group...but you have to go to the catalog in order to see what they have and how much it is...hope this is not confusing...

See if Country LIfe Natural Foods Coop has a drop point near you. If not, set one up. all they need is 500 dollars worth of stuff each drop, every other month. I get mine for 23.50. It does not cost any membership, etc. i love this place!

Thank you! Yes, I ordered from Something Better before, to get some wheat. The only problem is, when the truck got there they didn't have any. It was the only reason I ordered. lol! Turns out I found someone who is placing an order with them, and she's going to allow me to tack on to their order. I don't know her really though, just through someone else. I was really hoping to order myself, so I wouldn't bother anyone. I'm ording 200lbs though, so that I won't have to worry about it for a bit this time.

Thanks again for the help!

I don't know where you are in NC but http://www.ncwheatmontanacoop.com/order/ has information about their routes and drop offs. I think the price for a 50 lb bag was between $15 & $17 ....might be worth checking into for you.

Three Bears Alaska in Butte carries it. Or just north of I90 near Bozeman is the factory, I've hauled 3000# from there before....if you buy enough it sounds like driving there would be cheaper than the shipping quoted.

If you are somewhat close to Georgia - a friend of mine there says there is a place in Homer that carries it.

Um stupid question I suppose but I don't know the answer-----why in the world doesn't someone start growing it in order to provide a local supply to alleviate shipping costs?

The site above sells it for about $18 a bushel while boards of trade futures are less than $6 per bushel. I realize there would be cleaning expense and warehousing but looks like some bucks could be made by someone.
