Cross your fingers for me!

I'm going to try to give the chickens their evening water without breaking my neck!

BTW...my knee isn't nearly as stiff as I expected it to be...sore, but functional. Thanks for all the advice and sympathy yesterday! (Sure hope I won't need more in a bit...)

Take care.

I recommend sitting down and inching over on your butt.

That's a funny one Angie, gave me a laugh!

So glad it went well Ravenlost, I'd be a little worried if I were you too, It takes us a little longer to get over these things as we get older, I know.
We have so much ice around our barn & animal pen's I think I need cleats or skates.

That made me think of the movie Bubble Boy.

Has anyone tried the old suggested method of feeding chickens a heated wet mash during the winter so that no watering at all is needed?

The idea was told about decades ago in Mother Earth News. The claim was that one lady did that and never had to provide water. The heated wet mash seemed to aid production as well. I don't care to spend the time searching through old issues or their archives but with diligence you should be able to find the article.

I feed mine heated wet mash when it's really cold, but still give them water. The duck needs her water.

Going to see if I've got enough bubble wrap tucked away in the attic to make myself a suit. Won't that freak the dogs out? LOL...
