Like/Dislike?
We all have families. We all do basically the same thing in life---work to pay bills, raise kids, find the best way thru this journey in life and smile while doing if we can------
but isn't it amazing that we have so many commonalities yet such different views in life also.
I haven't been on this forum long and some of the "views" on all the categories from Survival prep, to Politics, , etc to how you raise your family and treat your marriage to more is SO FAR OFF from what I think.
When you hit the "big difference" in opinions on the board (which is going to happen from a diverse group)---what do you think? Do you think how can these people breathe the same air and be so XXX??? So way off what I think?
just wondering...cause some posts just knock me to the floor in their thinking.

As I have gotten older and (hopefully) wiser, I have learned that it takes a lot of different people (and ideas) to make the world go 'round. I read what the different views are and take away just what I want to of it. Some of the things that I consider 'way out there' is normal behavior for others and that is fine by me.
We have different ideas of normal even within my own family. I think eating out everyday is outrageous, my sis and bil think cooking is a waste of time. I think buying all your food is wasteful, my sis thinks gardens are a waste of good lawn space.

I like kmac15 have been around for a long time. I like to hear other opinions, esp. if they differ from mine. I admit to getting a little "freaked out' over some things said here. I try to take it with a grain of salt and go on. I appreciate being born in America. There are many countries that have no use for an opinionated woman with a big mouth! I am learning to keep it shut more often. LOL

I think that it just goes to show that the people who may have one thing in common (i.e. homesteading) may not have anything else in common. Sometimes, people try to lump all folks who garden together or all people who hang laundry on a line as a bunch of crazies. In actuality, we all have walked down many different paths to get to this point in our lives and we carry those differences along with us.
One person may garden to provide healthy food for their families and someone else may garden marijuana to fuel their own recreation. Very different perspectives on gardening!

Well I think everybody except you and me are wacky.
Here lately, I've began to wonder about YOU.

I tend to ignore the ones that are pretty wacky. I don't take many of them seriously. Plus, unless you know the person in real life, you really don't know what they think or believe. Sometimes, people are totally different online than in real life. It makes you wonder who the real one is...

But one day I am wacky and another I am totally believeable. I promise!
I find that most people are very nice here. The others are just having a bad day.....

I think it is the beauty of America (what's left), that we can say what's on our minds and, right or wrong, it is OK. Now, I know that is over simplistic and very optomistic, but I'm looking for good discussion, that's how I learn.

I meant wacky in a sinister, evil, nasty way. LOL! Not wacky in the normal way. I'm pretty wacky, but in the normal way, of course.

I like to hear different views. Everyone has different experiences in life and that gives them different view points.

Just remember that the same people whose opinions and beliefs knock you to the floor would feel the same way about yours.
There is huge diversity in families. Why wouldn't there be in a group like this?
Also, the way we all found our way here is different but I think many of us found one of the forums and then started participating in others. I know I did. I found the soapmaking forum when I started getting into that. Then I looked at the forums on sewing, canning, cooking and gardening and thought, "Hmmm.......there are other folks out there like me and MAN! Look at what all I can learn." So, I stayed.
Sometimes opinions are asked for and I'll give mine. Usually when it is different than what is already written. Doesn't make anyone's wrong. Just offering another perspective.
My advice is to avoid controversy that will upset you. I only rarely go to S&EP because it makes me worry too much and my husband notices. But I do like to go just to see what current thoughts are.
Enjoy what you like and leave the rest for those that enjoy it.

I have a lot of ideas and attitudes that are different from the "mainstream" ... even mainstream homesteading types if that makes sense. But I've never felt like I needed or wanted to impose my attitudes on anyone else.
I may not necessarily understand your viewpoint but I believe in your right to have one that is different from mine. I've always been like that for the most part, although as I've gotten older I've learned more about not expressing my attitudes/ viewpoints in certain groups.

I am also amazed at some posts here, but I read them with an open mind unless it is someone who constantly causes problems. Then I skip their post. If a thread starts going downhill, I quit reading it. For instance, I posted on a thread last week, and it seems some had a problem with what I said. I have no idea what it was as one of the moderators deleted my post and about 4 more posts. I try to choose my words carefully, but I must have hit a raw nerve with some. That is why we have moderators, to take care of these issues. Some posts that are left really do surprise me; however, it is of no concern to me. I choose what I want to read and ignore the rest without causing problems by mentioning my differences of opinion; but I do respect others opinions.
