The Wind !!

It has been so very windy over night and this morning that I think this old farm house is going to blow away. But as my husband reminds me..this house has been here about 130 years now and it's not going anywhere soon. We are on top of a hill to some a mountain to others and so very cold today also. I'm just glad for the pile of firewood and a warm cozy house. Going to check on the barn animals again and see how they are doing..probably better than us !!Nothing like living the homestead life in upstate central PA during the winter. When the grandchildren were very small and slept upstaairs they would be afraid that the roof would blow off the house at nights. Just love it !! How's your weather today !!

12 below this morning but at least it stopped snowing and the wind isn't blowing at the moment.

I'm not too terribly far from you Helena, so experiencing much of the same nasty wind.
The bank clock in town reads 8 degrees, but the wind chill is something else!
I admit that I'm glad I came to work today and do not envy DH who is home... he gets to feed the critters today!!

Our wind has died down today thank goodness! It was terrible here yesterday though. Our woods are next to us but a big pond out back & alfafa planted in the front so we get alot of the blowing & drigfting. You could just hear it howling all day yesterday.
Dh had went ice fishing & came home early becuase he said you couldn't even step outside the shanty for fear it would blow away.

I don't think our animals every came out of the barn for most of the day & I think the ducks stayed in there house most of it too!

7 below this morning with the wind chill. Lots of drifting snow meaning very poor visibility on the way to work. Windy enough that the quail pens blew over which has never happened before. Good thing the pens were empty...the few breeder quail that I hold over the winter get to live in the basement as they don't tolerate the cold very well.

It's a whopping 19F deg, windy day. The chickens have been hanging out in their coop all day.

Very windy here, too. The gusts kept waking me up last night.

I had to chase after our trash can lid this morning, and on my way to work one of those orange plastic barrels blew in front of me. I slammed on the brakes, which flipped my tote back upside down on the floor (the banana survived unscathed) and I hit still the darn thing.

Fortunately, when I hit it, it spun away from the road rather than into oncoming traffic. And no damage to my car, either.

I guess I can't complain that it is cold out since it is 33 degrees. I don't know how you cold state people stand it I really don't. I am sure the cold weather will catch up to us next month.

Aye, bad wind here too. It calmed down for a while around mid-afternoon but has picked up again. In our old farm house it shook the place something fierce. Our new cottage is stone and masonry so thankfully we don't get that nasty effect. It also stays much snugger and warmer, no holes in the walls.

We spent the morning working on setting newly farrowing sows. Fortunately we've just finished building some new housing that gave them a lot of protection from the wind. Working in there out of the wind was great, and then you would step around the corner and face into the wind to head back to the house - instant frost face.

Cheers

WOW! I'm in Casper Wyoming which usually has lots of wind and it's been unseasonally calm here lately. But than wait 5 minutes and that will change.

It was the same here as your house because I'm in Tioga county which must be nearby. I hope you will consider coming to a meet and greet cookout/campout this summer I'm planning for HT forum members in the area. When I get all the details figured out there will be an open invitation for all. Always nice to hear their are others in the area.
