What homesteading endeavor would you like to learn more about?

This year I would love to learn to make soap. I have been intrigued by this for years and want to experience the process at least a few times. What do you want to learn more about?

Heirloom vegetables to grow in western Arkansas.

I've always wanted to learn to knit socks and mittens. Not sure how to go about that though. I wonder if it can be learned from a book.

how to homestead on very small acreage. Where we moved for the j-o-b, land is too expensive to have much of it.

I got a good book on that topic for christmas. It's called "the backyard homestead." Probably not new information for most folks here, but a different perspective on how much land you need to be self-sustaining. It is put out by Storeys.

I'm thinking about ordering from them, this year, because they're located fairly near to our climate. My hope is that, if things will grow well there, they'll grow well, here.

I don't think my climate is much different from yours.

Learning to spin is my top one, and learning to make more complicated types of cheese.

Master the art of foraging, learn to make crafts and potions from/with herbs (wreaths, soaps, candles, herbed vinegars, etc.), and become better at container gardening since I fear that I what I'll have this year due to moving the beginning of May and not knowing if we'll be able to buy a place right away or rent for another while yet.

I have always wanted to learn how to spin and weave cloth. There is a crafts shop in a nearby town that offers lessons in both and I am always so tempted to take some lessons.
