My January Goal

Print pictures that are loaded on the computer and get all my photos in albums. I really need to get this organized! Anyone else want to set a January goal?

Promise to myself: I will absolutely NEVER *not* back up photo files. I spent a month literally sweating blood while I hoped my computer guru could salvage my photo files from my crashed hard drive.

GoaL #1: Update my website, get current with horses out competing, horses for sale.

Goal #2: Post more regularly on my blogs (last year's goal was to start them!) and begin printing the posts as "chapters" for a hard copy album for my two kids.

I'm organizing my sewing/craft/schoolroom today. There's so much I need to get done and the disarray has been holding me back.

Speaking of photos, I have about six albums waiting to be done. One of the things that I plan to get tonight (I'm going out with my sisters-in-law) is a cart with shelves and baskets for storing scrapbooking projects.

Cut oak logs for growing mushrooms in. I'd like to get a couple hundred ready so that I can plug them later in the spring. If I get em cut I might even drag bring them inside so I can plug them earlier.

Get pared down and eliminate all unnecessary STUFF! One bag of clothes already set out to go to Goodwill, now I'm working on the list that can go on Ebay...

I'm with you RideBarefoot. I have got to get control of my house and get things organized because it hinders my productivity. I have never been able to sew when things are in a mess and lately things are in a mess. A lot of the problem is remodeling the kitchen and some other things that needed to be done. Good luck to everyone on getting things done.

My goal is also to get rid of unnecessary stuff. Those hoarding shows are starting to scare me.

To either get the green house in repair *OR* get the raised bed INSIDE the greenhouse set up. I want to get both done before spring.

I am imagining a ring of strawberries with a lot of root vegetables in the middle.

During January while it's still too cold to get outside very much, I want to make a dent in my fabric stash. It would be nice to have some new clothes that fit. I'd also like to catch up on some house work I've gotten behind on.

For the photos - look at flickr.com. It's well worth the $24 a year to upload ALL your photos. Then, if you want to make a photo book, you can arrange and print the whole thing professionally. And flickr keeps waaaay better backups than you ever could. I have over 35,000 photos there (http://www.flickr.com/photos/rangerholton/)

truthfully my goal for January is to just get through the month in one peice. It will be a very hard month, we will mark the one year anniversary of John's passing.

On the practical side, I really need to get my craft room cleaned and organized.

Oldmania, I get my DH to watch them hoping he will get scared but, they don't seem to have any effect. Now, me, I can throw stuff out or give it away with no problem. If it doesn't get used it has no place in my house because I need the space for useful things.

I am so sorry Cindy, I can't believe a year has passed already, although I am sure to you it has seemed a very long year. I do think that keeping busy will help you a lot. I once read of a man who lost his wife and daughter within a month of each other. He said he was very miserable and grieving, just didn't want to go on.

Then one day he thought he had to get ahold of himself, so he went around his house with a notebook and wrote down every single little thing that needed fixed, repaired, replaced, cleaned, organized, etc... He said there were over 200 items on the list. After that he would just get up in the morning and do the next thing on the list- no matter what it was. He said for some reason, just having that task to do got him through the day and by the time he had completed the entire list, he was feeling better. He still missed his family and had grief for their deaths, but he felt ready to face the world again.

I just always thought that was an inspirational story and I really believe in the power of just getting up and doing something. So maybe cleaning and organizing your craft room would be just the thing to do while you remember your son...

I think my January goals will be to organize my cookbook & recipe cupboard & actually file all my recipe's I keep clipping or getting out to use. It really needs to be done.

Plus I have been wanted to re-finish our wood aquarium stand & set up the fish tank again, I'm like WIHH as that was my goal last January so I really want to get on that too!

My January goal is to print off all my downloaded crochet patterns and organize them in sleeve protectors, inside a binder. (or 2 or 3 or 4). I am taking up a LOT of space on hubby's laptop with that file!

i started working toward my January goal this past month..trying to re establish my exercise program..i always exercise for 45 min 3 days a week..but i used to do weightlifting and aerobic exercises 3 other days (tue, th and sat)..but let it slide..and my weight too..which reached my highest weight ever in Dec 09..so getting the exercising re established as a habit is my goal..and i've already done it for awhile now..but not long enough to make it a habit or to see any benefits..

also writing everything down..again..
