It is a wonder we're not dead! I looked up some stuff and we eat things way after the time the site says they're good. For example, they say one month for bottled picante sauce, and I bet we've eaten it after it has been in the refrigerator 3 or 4 months. I cooked some fresh broccoli that had been in the refrigerator a couple of weeks, and the site says only keep it 3 to 5 days. I'd heard it lost nutritional value over time, but never thought you shouldn't eat it as long as it hadn't turned brown.

Don't tell that to the cabbage that's been in my fridge for about 3 weeks now.

These people must have some arrangement with the food producers. According to the servsafe book that is the restaurant bible for left overs and foodborne illness and bacteria, most foods will last 10 days at 41 deg. or below. If I was going to throw out my tuna after 3-5 days I would have to buy the more expensive smaller cans. Silly. Or freeze half of the big can when I open it. Silly again.
