Favorite Fall Treats

This unseasonably cool weather has me really looking forward to autumn. It's my favorite season! I love how beautiful everything is, the way the air feels, and the comfy temperatures. Even the cat is content in the fall.

I have some favorite foods that I love especially in autumn. I'm sure you do too. Here are some of my favorite things:

A glass of cold apple cider with a glazed doughnut.

Hot cocoa in my morning coffee.

Pumpkin puree with nuts and honey.

Whole cinnamon sticks in my tea. They make wonderful stirs.

Candy corn.

Stew with soft, warm bread... In fact, I think I'll make some for dinner!

What do you love to eat in the fall? I'd love to add to my Autumn Eats list

Stew season! I love to be able to simmer a big old pot of chilli or minestrone or beef stew. Also, baking. I dont make much bread in the summer, but once it cools off...bring on the carbs.

Candy corn...we call it 'cavity corn', LOL. Everybody here says they hate it, but I buy it anyways (at least 1 bag per year) and we all eat it and complain about how gross it is. It is a TRADITION, you know?

I've been craving a caramel apple lately. Reminds me of Fall.

Also love any kind of spice bread or cake.

Anything with pumpkin in it.

Soups and stews are definitely a must.

Cavity corn? LOL. I bought my first cavity corn of the season today. They have autumn/Halloween stuff out at Walmart already. I bought some "Pumpkin Spice" gourmet candy corn. It is WAY good! You should try that.

I love that you buy and eat it even though you hate it. Hehe.

my birthday is Sept.30th fall has always been my favorite. After all the heat and being stuck in the house away from the heat it's so nice to be able to get out and enjoy the day. It seems to me that the clouds and sky is so much prettier. Bluer sky, fluffier white clouds, leaves starting to change, the sights, and sounds. I love it. I think Sept. is my favorite month. Lots of craft shows, flea markets. Chili is our favorite. Soupbeans with cornbread.

Not one of you has mentioned fresh crisp juicy apples straight off of the tree! That is my favourite fall treat.

Pumpkin pie, apple pie, big pots of soup . . .

snuggling into bed with the heavy, warm, denim quilt on top

definitely a roast turkey, potato soup, cornbread muffins, pumpkin bread and hot dogs roasted over a fire outside with canned armour chili (I grew up with that at weiner roasts ). Any other time, I like homemade, but there's just something about the canned chili over a roasted hot dog!

Oooooo! Mamita has added fall things into the mix!

My favorite fall things:

My red cardigan.

Walks in my woods.

Reading "Mrs. McMurphy's Pumpkin" to the kids. Love this picture book and highly recommend it.

Watching horror movies! New movies for a fright. Old movies for that creepy feeling. 80's horror movies for a laugh

Raking leaves, giving them to the chickens, and then watching chicken joy.

Redressing the beds with the cold weather bedding.

Rediscovering reading as a hobby.

Crocheting a blanket while you're under it!

I saw a love bug today, here in TX that means fall is coming (of course it would come anyway, lol)

I can't wait to open up the windows and let the cool air IN. That's my biggest treat.

I'll miss the potato salad and corn on the cob but can't wait for chicken and dumplings, chili and cornbread, pork and sauerkraut. Spice cake for my birthday and roast turkey and pumpkin pie later.

Visiting FIL/SMIL in the Ozarks. Oh, beautiful heaven.

Apples. I love a big bowl of them in the kitchen, the smell wafting everywhere...

Fires, preferably sitting beside one with cocoa or good hot tea.

All the breads I make; only time of year I get into the "Must bake things and shove them at passerby" bit. Pumpkin bread (the puree sounds wonderful!), oat breads with remnants of frozen summer fruits in it, yeast bread... the occasional applie pie.

Pumpkin cookies, too. Stews. Sweet red wine. I cook waaayyy too much when it gets cooler. I was either a bear or a hedgehog in a past life, lol.

How it's so perfect outside you hate the indoors. Sleeping with the windows open and waking up to crisp clean air. And NO BUGS.

I LOVE fall.

My two favorite people in the world have their birthdays in September, DH's 30th and our son's first. DH leaves on the baby's and will be gone for his, but they're still very special.

When I was in school in Ohio, we always had a harvest party at school and there would be apple cider and doughnuts. I crave these at the first sign of autumn

Black peas... YUM

It's a fall tradition specific to my home county, I think they are called maple peas here.

You simmer them until tender, then put some malt vinegar in them, we always eat them on November 5th.
