I had 6 extra kids over today...

How many kids have you watched at a time?

I had 6 extra today on top of my 5, so 11 total. My friend's kids are really well behaved so it was a very peaceful day in spite of having (including mine) 11 kids ages 14 and under. It is nice when children are trained to be well behaved. Very nice indeed. They are coming back tomorrow, and I am looking forward to it. :-)

I used to be a substitute teacher, so I have to say I have watched over 30 kids at one time. LOL...

Glad they were all well behaved!

Thanks. :-) Yep, I'm sane. I've subbed too, but the class was small.

These kids are 12, 9, 7, 5, 3, and 1 year(s) old. They were so easy. The three year old got tired and asked for a pillow... laid down and put herself into a nap! The one year old is just barely walking, and I haven't had a baby in my house in years. If he picked up something you didn't want him to have, you would just say, "no, Nowlin, give that to me," and he would give it to you, every time! He took a long nap too. The five year old played quietly with cars and dolls (that fit into the cars), and the 7,9, and 12 year olds played Apples to Apples with my kids (who are 7,9,12,13, and 14). The 3young boys got tired of that and made a fort out of blankets and the bunk bed, and happily played without argument most of the day. They were here for 5 hours. Couldn't have been easier! My mother in law called, and she said "how are you taking care of six extra kids?!" And I held out the phone and said, "listen to this..." It was so quiet. Pretty cool. :-) It was really enjoyable.

When I had 7 kids, I'd sometimes watch my friend's 6 kids. They all played outside mostly. They were all so excited to see each other. It was generally quieter with 13 than it was with 7.

My middle son's sleepover/birthday party was crashed last year and we ended up with around 20 kids between the ages of 8 and 12. I was amazed at how well behaved they were, especially when it was time for pizza and cake. All the crashers went home at a respectable hour too so the remaining 9 could continue with their sleepover. Larger groups do seem to do better than smaller groups, for whatever reason.

DH is the youngest of 11. Just think, his house was full all the time!

And we should carefully watch Cindy over the next few days to see if these uber well- behaved kids are pod people or something and eat her brain.....
the little ones seem too well-behaved for mormalcy....

L! Pod people! L! I know these kids pretty well and they are not always that well behaved, though they are pretty good most of the time.

sounds like your peaceful day had a lot to do with the kids had things to do and knew how to entertain themselves. I find troubles with groups of kids when they get into the "i'm borred" or "that's yucky/i'm not doing that" type moods.

glad the kids all enjoyed their time at your house
