somebody cutting wood...........

in the area behind our property. and I know it's not the owner. what would you do?? this is my last post, cause I have things to do yet. but will peek in as I can. would you boldly go and ask them?? I'm here alone, so I don't want to be too bold. LOL yet.......if they see me, and I question them a little...I don't know. geez...maybe the owner gave them permission and I don't know it. or....maybe they just decided to chop down trees on their own. all I know is...........I'm heading out with my buddy, my German Shepherd...as if just walking him. and...........then.......guess I'll try to see what's going on. (I HATE being the nosey neighbor!! but..the owner is never here) see...it's the classic case of wanting to protect a neighbor (even a neighbor that is never here!).........yet not wanting to start drama. but.......

ok...here I go.....out there.............boy, do I feel a bit scared.......

oh man....this stinks...

I think I might call the owner first.

yup. . .try to call the owner. if he doesn't answer the phone, go check. part of being a good neighbor.

i know that if somebody was on *my* place doing *anything* i'd want my neighbor to check it out if they couldn't get in touch with me!

Definitely check, but be careful.
We had someone cut on our property one year without permission. They took down every single last decent looking balsam we had growing, including the one I had picked out for our Christmas tree. I was not impressed. We never heard because it was a piece of land that was seperated from the main part of the farm, and down over a hill. Never heard the saws, and only found out when I went down to cut my Christmas tree. Teh sadness!

I have no idea what the neighbor's number is....they never come around. we all know it (around here) as 'his' field. ok...so I walk the dog..politely ask what's up. me...barely scarey..lucky if I weigh 110 lbs. soaking wet at 5' 3 1/2". (I pretend I'm taller) dog...same weight, except he isn't friendly AT ALL. (cept to me, he is my little baby). all I know is I asked...dog bared all teeth...........they are gone! obviously they didn't have owner permission! whew....I'm glad they're gone. need some sweet tea! ( wish I had something stronger. I'm too timid for this type of thing!)

Go you! *pours you a cup of tea, and gives your sweet, brave dog a treat.* I'd call the police, now, and give a nice description of them.

you may not believe this, but we have no 'real' police here. sure..you CAN dial 911 and get state police, but by golly..........don't hold your breath they're coming. we've been told (by the electric company) that IF you're lucky........they MAY respond within the hour. we have one state policeman for a very large county. so..electric Co. says...be prepared for yourself (no..they don't come out and say GUN, but we know what prepare means)...have a dog..or dogs. which I do. I LOVE my dogs. they are so delightfully nasty to others. (don't worry...I know how to keep them in check for liability)

calling police? nah..that's nothing around here. calling my other couple neighbors......yeah......that is the ticket! all of us (ok...just 4) are on 'watch' now. that is the best I can do. and I LOVE my neighbors! large area......but don't mess with us. lol

If the loggers show up again, call the other neighbors to come do a united front with you and your dogs.

Maybe get any info you can see, such as description and license plate, and go to neighbor. Ask him if he knew folks were loggin there. If he didnt, you can provide them with what they will need to get the theif. if he did, just say, Ok, wanted to make sure everythings a-ok. Also might want to exchange phone numbers for emergency purpopses
