Miffed and annoyed!!

Duke Power had a big surge this morning. Power on and off twice in a flickery kind of way.
Now our Wii is dead.
It was a gift, so we aren't out money, but still.
We really enjoyed it as a family.
Yes. We had a surge protector, but they deal with lightning and not stuff direct from the stupid power comapny.
I had just rented a fishing game for myself and was going to try it out.
bummer.
grrrrrrrrr.

We are thinking it may just be the little transformer thingie that lies along the wire between the game and the plug.
We are going to rent a Wii and see if we plug their transformer into our base if it will work again.
Then we will buy a transformer, which is a lot cheaper than a new Wii... which we would never, ever buy/afford.
Fingers crossed.
I really want to play the fishing game. I kick heinie on fishing games.

Is there nothing that can be done?

Just saw your post...I hope it is the transformer!

Oh great, now you have me worried! I just got a Wii with Wii Fit as an early birthday present. Haven't hooked it up yet. We're with a small electric co-op and our power goes off all the time. Sounds like this is going to be a problem!

Guess I can unplug the Wii when I'm not using it.

So sorry you lost yours.

I have bought cheap ($60.00) uninterruptable power supply. it has a battery in it that will kick in when the power fails altogether. If your there, you can turn off the computer or game machine and keep them from being damaged. you can get these from staples or officemax, walmart, all sorts of places. it sure keeps the aggravation levels down.

Ergh, I'm sorry about that! I hope it is something easily fixed or replaced.

We don't have a Wii at home, but our doctor is thinking about bringing one into the office to use for fitness training. Whooohooooo! That would be fun.

A surge protector should protect from an overvoltage situation. The don't against brownouts, but generally brownouts only toast motors.

before you do anything!!! try unplugging it from the wall and also from the wii itself. Then let it sit for about 15 minutes. Ours did the same thing and this was what i found online. Ours worked after that.

you might want to check with your power company. My parents had a computer that got screwed up because the power company was messin with the lines and they paid to repair or replace the computer. I can't remember which but I remember my mom filling out forms.
Good luck

We had a power surge brought about by power lines brushing a tree that fried the GFI circuit in my kitchen and killed my dishwasher. The power company (Puget Sound Energy) paid for the replacement GFI and a pro-rated amount for my dishwaher (enough to buy a new, cheaper, model). It was a lot of paperwork, but it was worth it. If your Wii doesn't come back to life I would call the power company and ask to file a claim for damage. Good luck!

Shucks! I hope you get it to work. I know how it feels to want to play a new game. The wait must be killing you.

Call Nintendo!! They can tell by the info on the unit if it would still be under warranty, and if it is, they will fix or replace it. I have one that I am sending in to be repaired, unfortunately mine is not under warranty, and I did purchase it, so I am paying to have it fixed. Less than $100 though for the fix. Worth a try to see if yours is still covered.

This worked for me too, tho not on a Wii.
Is there a reset button anywhere?
