WOOHOOO we just bought the best place!!!

I will post pics this weekend, but we just bought a place that has a little less than 14 acres, mostly wooded, with about 4 acres grass.

We have room for an orchard a huge garden, all the geese, ducks and chicken plus goats!!!

I am so excited!! We are startig work on the house tomorrow, we need to pull up the carpet, there are OAK floors under it, and we need to do some painting inside and out. My DH needs to do some work on one of the rooms, but other than that, hopefully we will be in in no time!!

It also has two out building and one of them, half can be used as a summer kitchen/ canning area, and the other half as a stable for the goats.

The other out building is a multi bay workshop, with a second story over half. My DH has already claimed that one as the "man area".

Did i mention i was excited!!!

Talking

Chickenista:

Ummmm, well, we will be there Sunday starting work, so i would say boots, gloves, wire brush and a paint brush!

The outside is brick, but i need to paint the windows and the metal colums around the carport and porch.

Oh, some Iced tea would be nice, maybe some fried chicken....

Sounds terrific! I hope you got a deal.

(If I had to choose another piece of land, I'd probably choose a place with some pasture, too.)

that is wonderful, is it nearby where you are now..are you MOVING In right away...Paint first of course inside if you can..easier than doing it around furniture.

ronbre: we are doing everything we can before moving in. everything but the kitchen because we have not decided if we want to redo or gut, that is up in the air. There is nothing that needs to be done upstairs except to paint, install a new toilet and clean a little.

We need to fence for the animals, paint window trim and clean the gutters.

Plus, i have some plants i want to move, but the yard work can be done after we are there.

So excited!!

I will get pics up this weekend!

Congratulations, sounds just lovely. One word of advice - it is best to paint before you pull up the carpet. Ask me how I know??

KandM, where abouts on the Northern Neck are you located? My sister has a little homestead in Irvington.
