yellow field corn, (dent corn) dryed properly for grinding makes a good corn meal for critter feed or a particular processed bottled product. Or if not ground fine it makes cracked corn as mentioned above. For good household corn meal, I like a white corn, preferably Hickory King which is an old timey open pollenated corn, but can be a real bugger to keep some for yourself as the crows seem to dearly love it above any others. I also like to grind a small amount of Hickory King after sprouting it to make malt to blend in with the yellow corn for the bottled corn. It gives it a nice mellow corn flavor.
