New contacts!

For the first time in 40+yrs. I can read, type, watch tv --pretty much function on a daily basis.....w/ out glasses AND contacts!! I wore contacts for distance and little 'cheaters' --(magnifing glasses), for reading.. At my last eye appointment, my dr. said 'these are expensive but I want you to try them... Well, I picked up the trial pair, today--popped them in and said "I can't see, anything" well......with in a few minutes, my eyes had adjusted and I can SEE!!!!" Amazing! Things are clear, I am never gonna have to search for my glasses again....Yea......... Thanks for letting me share... My dh said "it doesn't take much to make you happy'... He has 20/20 vision--but can't heard a thing...

Did you get the type that allow one eye to see close and one to see distance? I tried them and I was terrified over what would happen if I accidently popped the "distance" one into the gravel driveway and couldn't find it! I'd be blind. Then there are the ones with the close-up at the bottom and the distance at the top, just like bifocals, I guess they are weighted so they hang correctly. Either way, yippee!! That's great!!

Congratulations on your new vision!

That is really something to celebrate, IMO.

No--they are not one for close up and one for distance...They are bi-focals. It's amazing. I am still reaching for my glasses and have to laugh at myself! The only problem is they are going to be $380+ every 6months!! But I am worth it. My children are all grown, my health is great (no meds--except vitamins), we are comfortable with our lives...so why should I not spend it on me???

Even for bifocal contacts those are pricey! May I ask what brand?

That's exactly right. When we're raising our kids we often let the dental cleanings or eye appointments go, but you deserve to see well. I'm happy for you!

P.S. Have you checked on the Internet, to see if you can get them online cheaper?

oh queen bee, i am so happy for you!

I used to use contacts, but allergies keep me from them now.

I read this thread and could feel how happy you are, it brought a true smile to my face for you.

They are Proclear, the problem is my prescription.. I am legally blind in one eye and this is one of a few companies that offer the contacts that bring that eye to 20/20! Yes, it is very pricey but agian I think I am worth it.. I'll wear them for a week or two and if I still love them--I am going to order a box for each eye!

I have the gas permeable contacts that are bi or multi focals. I LOVE 'em. But they were $500!!!! Bought them back when I was working...when/if they wear out, that's it-going to glasses.
